I am writing this review after getting rid of this devil from my sweet home. I think I did a good thing by throwing it out for an exchange with a Philips mixer and peace of mind. I was really impressed by its look and convenience when I saw it first. Alas, it is a disastrous example for poor design.
Food processors are really convenient and I still miss its functions. However, I feel for Indian style of cooking, it requires more robust design rather than a delicate and good looking one like Kenstar. My experience in dealing with this is really horrible.
Food processor part is connected to the motor using a belt. The problem starts there. The big wheel used to slow down the rpm and to gain more load required for food processor accessories slips off and often loses its alignment. Even slightest change in alignment makes to unit noisy and within no time it starts giving burning smell due to wear and tear. Finally it also affects mixer grinder part as both the units function together.
I started getting the problem on the second month itself. The service backup is quite good in my area and they attended almost promptly. But the problems were too frequent to term the service as good. Of course, the technician was trying his best but it was evident that he was also repenting for working with Kenstar. The parts were ill fit and once it was necessary to use hammer and chisels to open flywheel of food processor! Finally he replaced the whole shaft. However, the problems recurred promptly after few days. I used to unit for two years. By then, both my patience and warranty were expired.
Food processor part comes with many attachments such as atta kneading, mincing, chopping, grating etc. However, only atta kneading is worth unless you process large quantity of food. Else, you will spend more effort and energy in washing that big jar just to grate or chop small amount of salad. Atta kneading works really great. Chapathis become very soft and tasty. Frankly, I am looking for a stand alone atta kneeder without any other nuisance.
I also lodged several complaints about the frequent problems and promptly received free suggestions to contact service person, which I was routinely doing. Once I received a call from Customer survey and told them the problms. Well, thats it, it is obvious that they do not want anyone complaining about their product. No more calls.
I do not recommend Kenstar to anyone. I made a resolution not to buy anything from this company. This is based on my experience. I respect if anybody has positive remark on this product and sincerely wish for continued good luck.
