I had purchased this cooler to beat the heat of Dehradun, the cooler cost me Rs 6000, and I guess it was a good buy, performance is good, gives a blast of air. I guess when purchasing the cooler, it is important that you give a thought to the throw window, if you are planning to use in the Bedroom, it must have a good throw window with vertical and horizonal re-directing mechansim ( like this model) .
some one had posted that he had a burnt pump motor.
Every motor should have some work to do. i.e, one should not run a pump dry, it is simple energy conversion.. if the electrical energy of the motor is not getting converted into the mechanical energy, it would convert itself into heat and destroy the windings, so, in order that pump motor lasts long, you should ensure that there is enough water in the chamber.
I used to fill 1 big bucket of water, and it used to reach the half way mark by morning. There is also an ice chamber, in which you can put ice crystals, but it is more of a fancy stuff, never did anything that good to the cooling, but overall the throw is good. open the windows while using the cooler, it makes it more pleasant.
I had chosen Kenstar because, I thought that they had good Quality control. So far, no probs with the product, but I have just used it for 3 months.
