I was one of the first buyers of the Kent RO Grand water purifiers with UV ( in Feb 2006). I was pretty happy with the quality of the filtered water and the product in general. I had no complaints on either count till the warranty ended in Feb 07. Within 2 weeks of the end of warranty period, the UV lamp had ro replaced ( Costing Rs 525 for UV lamp+ Rs 225 service charges).
By June the diaphragm pump also had be replaced ( Costing Rs 500 for pump Rs 225 service charges). In August the the system stopped functioning again. I gave a complaint to the service center. I also talked to the service manager at NOIDA Mr Chauhan, I tried to get in touch with their GM quality but was never connected.
All I wanted from Kent was that find out why the failure rate is so high, whether it was just my machine or was a more generic problem and whether I could do anything to ensure that the machine operates reliably.
What I got was another service engineer who wanted to replace the power adapter ( Rs 600) without any explanations as to why the failures were so high. He suggested voltage fluctuation, & when I said my entire houses power supply was routed through a UPS, he had nothing else to offer.
By the way, I think all customers should know that the parts replaced by KENT have a warranty of two weeks only.
