I always wanted a good massage, but was a bit apprehensive to get into any parlours, not knowing the cost etc. When I casually shared my apprehension with a mallu friend, he promptly recommended Kerala Ayurvedic Health Spa at Prabhadevi, Mumbai.
With his reference, I called them up and set up an appointement for a friday after work. The package I opted for was not very steep. It cost me only 700 Rupees.Since its a first and new experience for me, I have nothing to compare my experience against.
As soon as you enter, you are transported to an area other than the dusty, busy, honking Mumbai. As the serene music soothed my senses, I was escorted into a room which had a huge, long, thick rosewood colored plank of wood. After changing, I was asked to lie down on it.
2 practioners flanked me and poured oil over my back and started to massage my back. It was pure bliss. When making my appointment, I was given a mind boggling choice of "types of herbal massages", but this being my first time, I went for standard massage. For the ayurvedic massage to have optimal effect, I was repeatedly told not to fall asleep.
After about a hour of massaging, I was asked to take my bath in super hot water.
I swear after the bath, I felt like a new person.I felt lighter and felt livelier.
