Living in Los Angeles, it is not uncommon for KFC to be served to you by someone behind bullet proof glass. Now, not being a native of the West Coast, this does take some time to get used to. When I first went to a KFC I figured they probably kept their prized chicken in a vault, what with the whole bank motife. The kicker is that when your food is done, they put it in a bullet proof swivle compartment and spin it out to you. Now, judging by the appearence of the cashier, I figured that maybe the LAPD had some new work releasee program for its criminals and that the employees where actually locked behind the bullet proof glass (which was obviously to protect you from their criminal misdeeds, than them from you.) More on this in a bit, but let me get to the food:
Once I mustered the courage to remain in the establishment I ordered a 3 Piece original meal, with mashed potatoes, a biscuit and some gravy. This was insulted by the most abominable 7UP Id ever had in my life. If, I had never consumed the UnCola before I would have assumed it derived its name from being uncarbonated, of course that is folly, and their syrup to c02 ratio is just in a funk. Anyway, aside from the soda the food was excellent..or at least the 3 bites I had of it were...until BahBah:
Two men in ski masks decided to hold up the cashier. Im sitting there, scared out of my wits wondering how the hell they plan on getting through the bullet proof glass to get the loot..ak47s, grenade launcher, hostage situation (I was the only one in there, so you know how that one would go) In the meantime I realized that I was hallucinating all of this, there were no men in ski masks, and I was still alone in there. But Ill tell you, it is freakin creepy. Ok, well I recommend the food, but unless you want to know what its like eating Fried Chicken in Beruit, use the drive thru!
P.S. This review is only intended for those of the risk taking variety, who happen to be in vacinety of this particular KFC (La Cienga blvd / Venice intersection, Los Angeles, CA) I have been to numerous KFCs without bullet proof glass and have found the dining experence to be lot less trecherous.
