Sometimes there is no mood for heavy eating but the hunger does not end by eating light snacks such as biscuits and chips. At such time what to eat is the most difficult question. If you are also faced with such confusion in your mind and “stomach” then drop into newest outlet of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in Mumbai at Linking Road, Bandra(W). World famous for their Fried and Crisp chicken KFC has recently opened its outlet in Mumbai. Though the regular variety of Mughlai and other types of regular chicken stuff that may be available in regular hotels may not be available here, the taste of chicken is quite different here.
I chucked the fear of Bird Flu and decided to taste chicken after a very long time.
KFC is an international chain of restaurants. KFC has given their majority food items an “Indianised” taste. Perhaps that is why when we come here we don’t realize that we have come into a hotel-chain of Western origin. This is a fast food joint so I didn’t expect regular meals, but here they also give “Thali”(Indian lunch) with “katoris”(small bowls) same as other hotels. As a result many people who love to eat a full meal are also happy.
Though KFC is mainly famous for chicken, the vegetarians are also not disappointed here. There are as many varieties of vegetarian stuff as there are of chicken dishes. “Hot and Crisp Chicken” may be the speciality of KFC but their “Chana Crunch Snacker” offered in this branch is equally famous. This dish is basically a “Chana Pattice” made into a Burger. In this dish there is a mix of unique spices, salad and sauce. The bread used for this burger is extremely soft and fresh and this adds to the enjoyment of eating this dish here. In addition there are other vegetarian items on the menu like, “Paneer Tikka Wrap & Roll”, “Veg. Fingers with Salsa”, “Very Feast Burger”, etc. In Veg. Thali there are 3 Veg. Fingers, 1 Makhani Curry and Veg. Pulav. This ‘thali’ costs only Rs.50. It is sufficient for 1 person.
There is also a Chicken Thali here. In it you get, 1Chicken Piece, Makhani Curry and Veg. Pulav. This Thali also costs Rs.50 only.
I would not be surprised if those people who eat chicken regularly are addicted to KFC. Typical chicken made by Indian style is not available here, but the combination of chicken is interesting here. If you want to come to KFC you should definitely try their “Hot and Crisp Chicken” and “Zinger Burger”. “Zinger Burger” is made by putting Salad, Chicken Fillet and Mayonnaise in to an Oven-fresh Bread. In “Original Chicken Recipe” you get dishes made by secret recipes of KFC. In these secret recipes 11 types of herbs are used. The types of herbs used are kept secret by KFC.
“Crispy Chicken Strips with Salsa” is also quite fulfilling. In this you get 3 Boneless Chicken Pieces, with that you get sweet-tangy Salsa. If you don’t want to eat only chicken pieces then there is the option of “Chicken Tikka Wrap and Roll). In this Roll there is Chicken Tikka, Onion, Lettuce, Spices and Mayonnaise stuffed into Tortillas. This Roll also costs Rs.50. With all this stuff an additional “French Fries” and a Cold Drink makes interesting Combos.
After your have your stomach-full of Chicken you remember the Desserts or Ice-Cream. Though not much variety is available, their Brownie Sundae is really good. The Desserts are available in Small, Medium and Large sizes. Other options are “Soft Twirl” or in Sundae there is “Hot Fudge”, “Strawberry”, “Black Current”, etc. those who love to drink Coffee have the options of “Cappuccino” of “Black Coffee”. Tea is also available.
Although the stuff is quite greasy with oil it is still quite enjoyable. I felt no harm eating it. The prices of all the items available here are quite reasonable. 1 person can enjoy his evening by spending Rs.100 here. The addition of a Cool Ambience and Live Music to the fresh and tasteful food have made chicken eating a good experience here. It is also a good family place. If you come for shopping on Linking Road then you can have a snack at KFC.
P.S.- This is only my second review after ending my 4 years hibernation, so it may not be up to Mouthshut Standards. Comments on the review as a whole and improving my writing way are invited.
