I remember many years ago when someone would say ’’let’s go to Kentucky Fried Chicken we’d all get excited, it was a special treat.(Or so we thought)
We’d go and get some ’’ secret ingregient’’ chicken, mashed potatoes, cole slaw and baked beans. MMMMM what a treat(we thought. We were young and people were not into analizing foods back then)
But, think about it now..Fatty chicken, deep fried in grease. Instant mashed potatoes, cole slaw loaded with preservatives, baked beans prepared with sugar and artificial flavors.
The chicken has no taste other than the grease and salt. It sits under heat lamps for who knows how long and the ’’ secret ingredients’’ are easy to determine..salt, msg, more salt, maybe a little pepper and garlic, even more salt and lots of artificial flavors and additives. Yummy, yummy, then they take it all and deep fry it in grease.
The only thing about KFC that has any taste at all is possibly the fairly new, chicken pot pie, which is a combination of chunks of chicken, carrots, potatoes and peas in a creamy sauce, baked into a pie crust. It’s still got all the additives and artificial flavors, but at least the skin has been removed from the chicken.
You can also get yourself some greasy, fried, fairly spicy chicken wings, or greasy, fried chicken wings with a jalapeno honey sauce.(But I don’t recommend either of these items, because the greasy taste comes right through)
They also serve ’’potato wedges’’ instead of your everyday french fries, which is another plus. Although deep fried, at least you can taste potato.
KFC also serves dry, very dry bisquits with each dinner order.(So dry in fact that they make you almost choke)
A dinner for 4 people, consisting of 8 pieces of chicken, 2 side dishes(potatoes, over cooked mac and cheese, cole slaw, beans or previously frozen corn on the cob) with 4 bisquits, will run you and outragously high $18.99 (US $). For fast food, this price is quite high and absolutely NOT worth the money.
KFC also serves desserts of prepackaged pudding in a cup(yuk) or apple pie.
The drinks they serve are Pepsi and Pepsi products, which are by far my least favorite !
To make matters even worse, all the KFC restaurants I’ve been to are not the cleanest places around. A couple of times I saw roaches and ants walking around the food preparation area and all the employee did was to brush them away onto the floor.
So, as a whole I give Kentucky Fried Chicken a resounding Thumbs down!
