Khandala- beauty unsurpassed

Khandala in monsoon is like no other. Yes not even like its neighbour lonavla. The myst & mystery abound nothing less than heavens itself.

Our trip was in the middle of monsoon a day before independence day 2004. Reports of landslides on the Mumbai - Pune Expressway did not deter in taking this much awaited trip. Khandala is off the mumbai - pune expressway , some one and a half hours from mumbai -panvel.

As we reached khandala the weather changed into something out of a movie with lots of special effects. Driving back on the old nh4 highway bypass which takes you through khandala we suddenly lost vision. Out of nowhere a cloud envelopes you , it rains heavily and leaves you in 5-10 minutes with a feeling only the flowers and greenery around can express better. The ice cold rain, the wee bit of sunlight peeping in and the cool breeze transport you to another world, quite away from this one.

The twisted lanes into khandala hills, the cozy looking cottages and resorts not to forget the place where we stayed (Velvet hills ) was the icing on the cake.

Whether you stay in your cottage or hotel, or visit the numerous number of waterfalls mapping the area or just visit the public garden overlooking the valley you have never ever seen such beauty that us nature.

The place is suitable for young trekkers ( an excellent choice of location), revellers, couples and senior citizens.

In short if you are a worshipper of natures beauty then the temple is khandala in monsoon.
