Dekho Chand Aaya

Some of you would have seen the promos of this movie on TV or would have heard the songs on FM. This is my first review for a music album as I could not stop myself from putting my views on this highly

enchanting album.

Khoya Khoya Chand(KKC) is a movie based in 1950s and has Indian Film Industry(Bollywood) as its backdrop. The director of the movie Sudhir Mishra says he made this movie to showcase the lives of 50s stars and in a way a chance to give that era a tribute on his behalf. Initially, he named this movie Bahut Nikale Mere Armaan.

I think he chose this title as in his previous movie Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi(Oh, I loved that movie); one of the protagonist says this Ghalib’s phra

se which Sudhir reportedly used for his next venture. However, now he has opted for Khoya Khoya Chand.

Music Director: Shantanu Moitra(of Parineeta, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Eklavya and Laga Chunari Me Daag fame).

Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire(of Parineeta, LRMB, Eklavya, LCMD, HKA et al fame). He is an actor and a good singer also and has sung at least one song in each of his movies where he gave https://lyrics. He sometimes writes dialogues as well in movies. He wrote dialogues of Chameli and Eklavya.

I do not actually know how to judge a music album on its technicalities as this is my first review for an album. Give movies and I am game for anything but about an album all I can say is whether song was good or not, whether it can be listened or not. That’s it. So, please bear with me.

Song 1: Title Song:(This is also my hello tune?) Singers:

Swanand Kirkire and Ajay Jhingran.

Kyun khoye khoye chand ki firak me, talaash me udaas hai dil,

Kyun apne aapse khafa khafa zara zara sa naaraz hai dil,

Ye manzile bhi khud hi tay kare, Ye faasle bhi khud hi tay kare,

Kyun toh raasto pe fir saham saham sambhal sambhal ke chalta hai ye dil,

Kyun khoye khoye chand ki firak me, talaash me udaas hai dil.

This is no doubt the best of all the tracks. This actually is a Qawaali but different from the regular high pitched qawaalis. And surprisingly this qawaali has no tabla and other typical instruments commonly used for a qawaali. It has Jazz angle supported by powerful https://lyrics. This song is going to rock the charts.

Song 2: Ye Nigahein

Singers: Sonu Nigam and Antara Choudhary.

Ye nigahein nigahein nigahein jhuki jhuki,

Apni aahe laobn ki hado pe ruki ruki.

Mehfil mehfil kyun Deewana ye parwana ghumta hai

Jal jayega janta hai, toh kyun shama ko chumta hai.

Another one with superb https://lyrics. I do not know whether this is Antara’s debut or not. If it is, she is mesmerizing. This song is truly composed in 50s style and Sonu at his one of the best with a twitch of voice that sounds totally nasheela types. The song sounds intoxicating and you feel yourself making a drink after listening to this.

Song 3: Thirak Thirak

Singers: Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal.

Thirak Thirak Thirak Thirak Thirak Jaane De Kadam,

Behak Behak Behak Behak Behak Jaane De Kadam,

Chal aaj had se guzar jaaaye hum,

Thirakte Behkate nikal jaaye dum Mar jaye, mar ke bhi jee jaaye hum.

This song has 2 minutes of orchestra in the beginning which straightaway reminds you of Hothon pe aisi baat me from Jewel Thief. However, later it goes just average with inclusion of alaaps from Sonu. The song is about having a good time.

Song 4: Sakhi Piya

Singers: Pranav Biswas and Shreya Ghoshal

This is an out and out classical number with alaap overshadowing the https://lyrics. I could not make out the lyrics much. It is similar to SLB’s Albela Sajan from HDDCS.

Song 5: O Re Paakhi

Singer: Sonu Nigam

O re paakhi, o re paakhi kaisa ye tera fasana.

Dhundhe hai kyun daari daari har pal ik naya thikana.

O re paakhi, o re paakhi kis des tujhe hai jaana.

O re paakhi achcha nahi yuun dard ko aajmaana

O re paakhi, o re paakhi kaisa ye tera fasaana

Another Sonu number, but this time it is a sad song. This song is about nomadic heart which is looking for a constant ground. Sonu reminds you of Mohd. Rafi in this particular number.

Song 6: Khushboo Sa

Singer: Hamsika Iyer.

Khushboo sa woh meri saason me bas jaayega

Ek nasha sa banke meri zindagi pe chhaa jaayega

Karoon intezaar, mera yaar kab aayega

Yaadon mein woh rootha tha, khwaabon mein maan jaayega

Bujh gayi hai shama, aake phir jalaayega

Kab talak mere bin kaho use raha jaayega

Husn pe ho yakin toh ishq dagmagaayega

Karoon intzaar, mera yaar kab aayega

Woh julmi sitamgar kab pachhtaayega

Yaadon mein woh rootha tha, khwaabon mein maan jaayega

Like Antara, I am not aware of who is Hamsika. This is the romantic number sung in a haunting style by Hamsika. The sound of saxophone is quite distinct in this track.

Song 7: Chale Aao Saiyan

Singer: Shreya Ghoshal

Chale aao saiyaan, paroon main tohre paiyaan

Paroon main tohre paiyaan, chale aao saiyaan

Chale aao saiyaan, Paroon main tohre paiyaan paru main tohre paiyaan

Diye ki main baati, Jal jal main mari aa Jal jal main mari aa

Chale aao saiyaan

This is a Mujra song. Sung beautifully by Shreya it has somewhat naughty lyrics and you can’t help having a grin. Something like Meri sautan pe gaaj gir jaaye. It is again composed in true Indian classical form. Overall, the album can be termed as a classical one.

The classical bent is maintained in all the songs to give it a feel of 1950s. This is kind of music which slowly grows on you and I feel the songs would be liked by all after watching the movie. Sudhir Mishra has a good sense of music and that shows in this album as well. He has repeated Sunidhi quite a few times. Surprisingly, this time she is missing from the tracks. However, Antara, Hamsika and Shreya all have delivered top-notch recital. Especially Shreya, who is slowly turning out to be the most dependable female singer, I in fact have observed of late that this girl can modulate her voice like no one from present lots(apart from Sunidhi).

Listen to these three songs of her latest songs and you will realize what I mean to say here.

1) Ye Ishq Hai from Jab We Met

2) Thirak Thirak from Khoya Khoya Chand and

3) Isha Hua from Aaja Nachle.

The duo Swanand and Shantanu are working together for third time and have done full justice to the songs considering they had to set their music in 50s which was quite a task given the fact both were not even born that time. Listen to this one when you are in of your relaxed, happy moods when you feel good about everything and anything. This will act as an catalyst to your contentment.
