Khuda Aur Muhabbat is based on an Urdu novel with the same name by Hashim Nadeem. It is a social cum romantic story that dictates how the life of two youngsters suffer in the name of religion, tradition and ego.
One of my friend gave me this serial and told me to watch it. I personally dont like serials. All thanks to Ekta Kapoor. But he told me that I would love it after watching. And so did I.
It was there in my PC for over a month. One day I had nothing great to do and so was aimlessly digging in my hard disk to find a movie something worth watching. I came across it. I almost forgot about it. I opened to see what it was. The serial opened with its title track being played and those initial words of song just got my curiosity.
" *Karoon sajda Ek Khuda Ko
Padhoon Kalma Ya Main Dua Doon
Dono hi Ek Khuda Aur Muhabbat"
The entire serial has this song and its music being played through out.
I watched the first 5 min and there was no stopping after that.
Hammad or Maddy, as called by his friends and family, is an ebullient boy from a very rich family who has returned from America after completing his studies. Imaans father is a maulvi who leads in prayer at mosque and also teaches arabic and quran to Hammads Brothers son. On completion of a small course, Hammads family throws a party at their home.
The child being attached to Maulvi invites him to the party who declines it but being convinced by Shakir chacha who works as a driver for Imrans family and is an old friend of Shakir Chacha agrees to send his daughters to the party. Hammad falls in love at first sight of Imaan. He requests his parents to ask Imaans hand in Marriage from Maulvi sahab. Hearing this his mother gets agitated and when Maulvi saab visit their home she and Hammads bhabhi insult him. Maulvi suffers heart attack.
Imaan is a girl who loves her father very much and can do anything for him. Knowing that his father wont agree with the marriage she declines Hammads proposal every time. She is so innocent that she never tells anybody about what she feels. Hammad asks his family members to apologize who feel it ridiculous to apologize to a poor imam who come to beg money for donations of masjid. Hammad leaves home and lead his further life as a coolie.
Hammads family doesnt apologize to Maulvi because of their ego. Hammads Father wants to marry hammad to a business mans daughter( who is sister of hammads bhabhi) in order to get hold on their business. Maulvi being a religious person and also a man of self respect, cannot marry his daughter after such an insult. Also, he does not find hammads family good enough for his religious daughter as hammads family hardly know what religion is.
Imaan who neither can disobey her father nor see hammads toil cannot open up to any one whats in her heart. She holds herself responsible for his condition. She asks Hammad to return back to his home.
Hammad being the blood of his stubborn father does not do so. He starts hating elite society.
Hammads and Imaans life becomes a stake at the ego of Their Family and loved ones in the name of Society , religion and tradition.
Unlike Indian serials where the stories are literally butchered by unnecessary extension and never ending scripts, this serial has got only 14 episodes each of half hour. If you will see it at a stretch, then the entire serial will be over in 8 hours. So precise is the story!
The best part of the serial is the serenity with which they have made it. No obscenity, No Saans Bahu thing, No unnecessary over stretched drama.
Anjum Shehzad has done a good job as a director. From the first scene itself you are engulfed in the story. I thank him to bring up such a good story and presenting it in the simple, realistic yet powerful way.
I really remain unsatisfied with editing because the serial goes really very fast. At places where it could have been slowed down and things could have been shown in more detail, the serial just runs.I wished if it could have been stretched a bit more.
The title track of the song, sung by Ahmed Jahanzeb and Sadia Khan, just gets into you as soon as you hear it. youll keep humming it for next few weeks. It has become my personal favourite.
The most powerful and impressive part of the entire serial is the cast performance! Believe me, If you are a boy you may fall in love with Sadia Khan( the lead actress) and if you are a girl, definitely you are bound to be inclined towards Imran Abbas Naqvi( the lead actor) .
Imran Abbas Naqvi looks dashing and very handsome and earns a sympathy as Hammad. The entire serial relies on his character and he executed his responsibility very well. He recently signed a movie co-starring with Akshay Kumar. Sadia Khan portrayed an innocent girls role very well. Though it wasnt extraordinary performance but was good enough. There was nothing more she could have done.
Salman Shahid who plays the Maulvi and father of Sadia Khan is the real show stealer. Nobody else could have done that role better than him!
Saddaf Umair did justice to her character. Mona Shah looks cute. Khalid Butt(Shakir chacha, the Driver) and Shafqat Cheema( Cooli) are superb actors . Ahmed Jahanzeb proved that he is not only a good pop singer but also great actor.
Some of the best scenes from Khuda Aur Muhabbat:
Hammad(Imran Abbas Naqvi) sees Imaan for the first time(Sadia Khan).
When Imaan(Sadia Khan) sees Hammad(Imran Abbas Naqvi) wroking as a coolie.
Hammads mother insults Maulvi.
Shakir Chacha describes the problem to her daughter Haya.
Hammad meets Imaan.
The Climax.
In short, Khuda Aur Muhabbat is one of its kind love story that is executed and adapted very well in the serial leaving no scope for boredom.
