Well , I liked the movie to begin with.
Most of us already know the story here.
Its about rich boy meeting poor girl , marrying her against his parents wishes, living life in a Chawl, making through his MBA at his wifes expense and then ultimately loosing her.
Himanshu is very bad in expressing himself. All his dialogues have the same tone, his eyes are very wooden and all attention remains focussed only on his body.
Mallika is good, a little loud at times, but shes impressive in her first film. Shes a typical modern girl who is street smart and someone who knows the art of managing the house with a tight budget.
I really liked the film as compared to many other recent films I saw.
A few things worth mentioning about the movie :
-The lack of (irritating and jarry) background music while the dialogues are being said.
Most of the time the music doesnt play loud and confuse the daylights out of you when you hear the the dialogues.
-Ashas songs. Shes still very good when singing hot numbers or while singing the shastriya sangeet piece.
-The communication between the main characters looks natural. Todays college lovers use this kind of jargon and talk the same way they do. No one looks melodramatic and says Raj mein tumhare bina jee nahi sakti or Pooja mein tumhare liye taare tod ke laaunga
-The hero though shown to be rich and goodlooking is not super smart. He doesnt win the much talked about Go carting race and does a Baazigar saying jo haarke jeet ta hai, woh baazigar kehlata hai (or something like that, I dont remember the exact words.)
-He also comes third in his MBA exams. Doesnt shout filmy lines like Lekha.. mein first class first aaaya, hamare sapne sach ho gaye, tumhari mehenat safal hui and all that crap. He admits hes third, the topper is a brilliant girl from Goa.
-The new house they move into is very convincing. From a chawl they dont move to a very upscale 4 bedroom luxurious apartment. Their new house looks small, compact and the kinds they can afford.
-The heros rich parents treat the couple very politely when they meet the girl for the first time. They dont like her because of her status and caste but unlike many movies where the dad screams at his son saying yeh bacchalan ladki tumhare peeche sirf paison ke liye hai
pucho, yeh kya keemat laegi tumhe bhul jaane ki
There is no such melodrama here. They are formal, a little quiet and well behaved.
-that Ulhaas guy does some very good acting in many areas and leaves a lot to be desired at some places.
Overall the film is passable.
The Indian audience will goto watch the movie for its much hyped scenes but defly get more than that.
