Your restaurant KHYBER has been a landmark for over years for people travelling or living in Mumbai. But alas, maybe your acting career has taken a priority and the landmark restaurant has been given in the hands of truant staff who are mis-managing your hard earned reputation. I am sorry, but my experience in your restaurant has been truly and frankly nothing short of a nightmare.
To start with, I entered your esteemed property on Sunday 23rd September, 2007 at about 2 PM. The Gentleman (Who was not such a Gentleman) at the reception counter, which is just like a Kiosk refused to give us a table at the upper level and asked us to adjust ourselves on table number 02, else leave. According to him the restaurant was FULL, but once I had planted myself with family on the Table No. 2 I did make a trip round the restaurant and was pleased to find that more than 3/4th of the restaurant was EMPTY. (Well, maybe Marketing Gimmick). But then I do keep wondering why did he ask me to leave if I did not agree to take Table No 2!!
The Table did not have a clean table cloth and the second one which was brought was as shabby as the first one and also was slightly torn. On asking the waiters to replace the tablecloth, I was bluntly informed that this is the table cloth which is to be used! I keep wondering!!
My order for a starter and a bottle of beer and some soft drink is taken. The starter was good, but when I needed salt and pepper to sprinkle the reality shocks me. KHYBER has got SALT and PEPPER DISPENSERS, WHICH DO NOT HAVE LIDS BUT ARE SEALED WITH TISSUE PAPERS ON THE END, this does not allow the dispensers to be steady and they keep falling on the table. This actually has shocked me and my family. Mr. Behl, you do not generate that much income that you can buy SALT and PEPPER DISPENSERS which stand STABLE.
The High point to my visit was yet to come. At precisely 2.35 PM the entire Stewards of the restaurant sat down to have their meal. This was a SHOCK. The patrons are still there waiting for Lunch and the staff sits down to have their lunch a 2.30 PM! WOW !! Mr. Behl what liberty have you given your staff.
After a long wait Food does arrive. Well!!! It was an old KYBER where the question of Quality did not stand, now frankly people will tend to compare the KYBER food with the Noth Indian dishes available at South Indian Joints around Mumbat. (PATHETIC). Sir, your food is not even appreciated by the beggars outside your restaurant. I packed the left overs to give it to some beggar and when I handed over the bag to the beggar outside your restaurant, who was a kid, she bluntly asked me for money and said SHEE GANDA KHAANA HAIN. Sir, you have your reputation as one of the best restaurant and the ebst food lost because of your Staff and maybe your over enthusiasm into being a Bollywood actor. I could write and write, but my last words to sum this experience is KYBER IS A PATHETIC, NON CARING AND EXTREMELY WORTHLESS EATING PLACE NOW IN MUMBAI.
