Well, based on the ratings note the following points:
It is easily accessible via road. No railway station is nearby. Boats are a good deal from Gateway and Ferry wharf in Mumbai.
You will only get cottages and bungalows to stay in the vicinity of the beach. Proper hotel and lodgings are little far away.
Dont even think about local sightseeing. There is nothing in the walking distance other than pretty good beach. There are other attractions which can be accessed via some transport, which is very difficult and expensive. Unless you have your own vehicle, stick to the beach.
The place is very safe for an overnight stay. Locals wont bother you if you behave nice and enjoy in a healthy manner. Women safety is not an issue at all. Just beware of the rocks in the seawater while swimming. Ask locals about the safe spots to swim, if possible.
