I have been shopping with all the famous e-commerce websites, and any new website lures you with discounts and cashback. Considering this we go ahead and buy from these websites expecting a better shopping experience, from the existing ones.
KinderCart.com is one such website.I was going through their catalog and was impressed. On further browsing I realized the prices were not at all competitive, rather the items were priced higher to adjust with the coupon discounts they are offering.
Another main attraction was their Rs.1 product with Rs.50 shipping. I decided to try this as the product cost was equal to the shipping. I added the products and paid by credit card. An email was sent to me with the list of products and shipping charges.
After a day or two I decided to check on the status of the products on their website and could find that the order was cancelled.
I called the helpline, only to be answered after 4-5 calls and received by a voice, clearly not from a call center(it could have been the owner himself for all I know). He patiently explained that there was an error on the website and I was charged only for the product and not the shipping. As this was not in the companys profit the order was cancelled. The money will be refunded to my account.
With that my first order on this website was cancelled and refunded.
This experience raises a couple of questions about this website. For avid online shoppers like me, can this website be relied on for proper selection and shipment of products. If a user spends his time selecting and buying something on this website, will it finally lead to cancellation and refund. Is the money we are paying by Credit Card or other online options safe from hacking, considering the constant errors in the shopping cart.
Isnt the customers valuable time and the money they spend important for the website to correct these errors and improve the overall shopping experience?
With more and more e-commerce websites evolving and competing for potential customers, this website has a long way to go!
