Hi Again,
If you have read my previous review (thats below this paragraph), I promised to comeback after 6 months, though I have not really prepared to give the review, Im typing thru.... Actually I wanted to write a new review on GF170 but mouthshut is only allowing to modify my previous review, so I am prepending to my old review. Ok today is 14 April2005.
Its been more than 7 months I bought my lovely bike... (26Aug2004, I think). ITs been a great bike since then , no major problems at all, small problems like side stand indicator not showing up, which mechanics fixed ina min or two. One problem was present i.e the front disc was bent since the very beginning and was touching the pads and retarding the wheel unnecessarily, I tried a lot to fix it but in vain, later I complained to Kinetic guys after 3/4 months and they replaced the deffective front disc .
Now the bike has become more smooth, freely moving and mileage/max speed also got increased. IN ONE SENTENCE , YOU CAN BLINDLY BUY THIS BIKE AND WILL BE VERY PROUD TO HAVE MADE THE DECISION. Buy gf170 city with disc brake and electric start. Mileage of 45Kmpl is easy in city.. can reach 50Kmpl but you have drive like my dad then. OK guys see you bye...

PS: I fitted eletric start, didnt remove the side stand, Everythings cool ... Nothing bad to mention, but like everything there can be improvements , like, petrol mix, K&N filters, better spark plug etc.. :-)
MY Old Review..... some 4 months back..
Hi GF170 fans/ enquirers,
I bought GF170 City Blue colour, nearly two months ago. And to mention
my experiences in the last two months with the bike there was nothing but
pleasure and fun.
Before my actual review let me thank you guys who have written reviews and
helped me a lot in making my decision of buying GF170. Many of my friends
were sceptical about this bike since no one (atleast in HYD) has bought
this and there were no feedbacks about the bike. Since I go thru the bike
and car magazines, I was pretty sure that this bike rocks. But there is no
other way than the feedback given by people who have bought it and rode
for couple of months. Right ?? So here I am.
I had little difficulty buying this bike, since no kinetic dealer had this
bike ready (esp blue color). I had to give advance, only then the delear got
this bike from pune. As far as performance goes this bike simply rocks.
This is high revving bike and all two stroke lovers are gonna love this.
As one of my friend after riding my bike commented its more of a two
stroke bike rather than a four stroke this would summarize the
performance of the bike. Exceptional. And if you are lazy you
get a mileage of 4 stroke bikes around 50kmpl (keep rev needle less than
5k). Frankly I have never driven a bike with so much of revving capability.
It revs upto 9k easily and the exhaust, MAN you got to hear it to believe
it, making all other bikers envy as you pull along. This bike has most of
the power/torque in the higher end of rpm. And does she pull in higher
revs, pull is rather a understatement, it literally drags you, and soon u
will realize that you are gonna bang the vehicle in front of you, which
looked so far away just moments ago. I reached 100Kmph (experimenting
to gauge the engines performance) and the bike was rock stable it would
have gone faster since there was more juice left but I backed off, reason,
i wasnt wearing a helmet and with the amount of road left I couldnt go
faster and brake before the turn. (the first bike I didnt see the max limit).
This bike looks like it gonna stay with me atleast 2-3 years w/o any
problems, by the engines heartbeat its gonna stay young forever. I just
have to change oil regularly and keep it in good condition.
Ive got to say the customer care in Kinetic is simply superb. I had
simple problems like the fuel tank cap making lots of noise when above 5k
rpm and the service engineers rectified immediately. They also proved me
the fuel efficiency(in city) of 4.9Km for 100ml of petrol with that laid
back attitude driving. And when you dont want to go fast and rip the road,
the bike is as docile as u would want her to be, no complains from the
bike for not revving, ofcourse no bike would do that but the way the
engine sounds, its pretty happy and smooth.
The gear shifts initially had problem but the service engineers rectified
in the first free service. There are a total of 5 free services. Now they
are pretty smooth, so smooth you can also change gears w/o the clutch, if u maintain
the correct speed.
Brakes are excellent , though the front disc brake looks small it does a wonderful
job are u are always in control of the bike, no matter the emergency u are in while
braking.
The BAD.
Im going to put an electric start switch, for kick starting w/o the choke is similar to Bullet and
i dont wanna risk my leg. Side stand in acute angles (cornerings) touches the ground, plan to
remove it but in two minds , since I use it so often.
In the end I will suggest you to buy this bike dumping all other 150 -180cc
bikes we presently have in here. You will not regret it.
OmSrinath.
