In our country, performance bikes are essentially the 150plus cc segment. In this, we basically have the Hero Honda Karizma/CBZ, Pulsar 180/150dtsi, Fiero F2 and Kinetic GF 170/Laser. I have done some comprehensive research on all of these bikes, including reading what experts say and test rides. Because I am a motorcycling enthusiast and also because I wanted to buy a bike for myself. I didn’t want to get taken in by hype but wanted to make the correct choice based on rational evaluation and preference. After my comprehensive understanding, I have chosen the Kinetic Laser. I thought since I put in so much effort into this, I will share my findings with the biking community.
The reasons I selected the GF Laser:
ØIt has the most advanced technology – four valve engine. With 2 inlet and 2 outlet valves. This means your engine breathes better and has an extended life
ØIt has amazing power – 15 bhp.
ØIt is a bike high on torque in all gears and all speeds. This makes riding it very effortless and the bike will never stall on you
ØIt has a good top speed of 120 kmph plus
ØIt has a counter-balanced engine so it has zero vibration
ØThe riding comfort is highest on this bike, due to a perfect seating position. Sit on the bike and you’ll know what I mean. You will feel right at home
ØThe GF also has the best handling and cornering
ØThe suspension is best of any bike in the country. It takes all kinds of bumpy roads with the greatest of ease
ØIt has good acceleration with 0-60 coming in less than 6 seconds
ØIt gives good mileage (as per all the automagazine reports of between 50-60 kmpl. Overdrive has even got a staggering 67 kmpl!)
ØIt has very eye-catching looks with bold colors, half fairing, twin headlamps. Big presence on the road. When I ride my Laser, I get a lot of attention and everywhere people stop to question me about the bike.
ØGearshifting is perfectly smooth
ØThe instrumentation on the bike is brilliant – you get more goodies than any other bike. In addition to the standard speedo, fuel gauge, you get a tachometer, engine kill switch, pass light, trip meter plus the most useful of all – the digital gear indicator. The instrumentation is set in an exciting dashboard like panel and when you are riding it you feel like you are riding a big powerful imported bike
ØIt comes from Kinetic-Hyosung – who also brought us the unbelievable Aquila. A coveted bike, and a success despite a price tag of 1.5 lakhs!!
ØAnd the final killer – the pricing. It is priced less than all other competition, making it the best deal on two wheels
None of the other bikes match the performance-power-pricing of the GF Laser. Karizma is overpriced. Pulsar150 dtsi gives less power than the GF at a higher price. Pulsar 180 is almost 17000 rs more expensive than the GF and gives about the same power. All pulsars are known for severe gearbox problems. Fiero is lame – it has only 4 gears and rides more like a 100cc bike than a 150cc bike. Low top speed, small size and basically unexciting everywhere.
None of these bikes have advanced tech like four valve engines, or complete instrumentation.
With my Laser, I have raced and beaten ALL these other bikes (except the Karizma). And all my friends who had bought other bikes now wish they had gone for the GF Laser instead.
I hope this helps you! Thank you!!
