Kinetic’s new addition namely the GF 170, is an ideal bike for all cities. It is sturdy, smooth and gives very good mileage. Bike lovers in India basically look out for two things: the look must be sleek and the running economical. And the GF 170 meets both demands.
When I recently rode a GF 170, I was amazed at its power, which comes from a 165.1cc, 15bhp, 14 Newton meters, and four-valve engine. A flawless combination of these elements generates the brute power in motorcycling. The kick-start is gently pushed and the engine roars into life. The four-stroke, four-valve, air-cooled engine throbs with a pulsating 15 bhp and a torque of 14 Newton meters taking the rider from 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds.
The power is smoothly generated through India’s first advanced four-valve train engine. Two inlet and two outlet valves provide for better combustion and enhanced power delivery. The result is a smoother functioning engine delivering high power with minimal noise or vibration. This is very important for a regular rider in congested Indian cities. If the engine vibrates then the rider is bound to have low back pain and aching shoulders. The five-speed gearbox optimizes the power and seamlessly delivers, notwithstanding the speed. Another important dimension is the GF 170s 112bhp per ton power-to-weight ratio. To ensure effortless braking, there is a 220mm disc brake in the front and a 130mm drum brake in the rear. The bike behaves quite nicely even when panic-braking.
The design has been so meticulous that even at sharp turns there is the least chance of skidding. The well-sculpted petrol tank, lean sports stance, exposed square tube double cradle chassis and chiseled aerodynamic bodylines add oodles of masculinity. The distance between the handlebar and the rider is very important in two-wheelers. If the handlebar is not properly designed, the rider is very likely to develop a pain in neck and shoulders. Riders who install locally made “Yankee” handles often suffer from this problem.
I rode the bike for more than two hours at a stretch and it was an amazing experience.
As a user of heavy motorcycles I never imagined driving this lighter job on highway would be so comfortable. I didn’t feel any low back or shoulder pain. Due to the scientific design of the seat there was no pain at the back of my thighs. The GF 170 easily scores over the others in its range and the twin horns, twin tail lamps and twin indicators are added embellishment.
The Kinetic GF 170 is loaded with unique driving conveniences. The pass light, gear indicator which is very useful in long drives. Side stand retract indicator, engine kill flick button, and trip-meter promote confidence & the powerful 45/40w headlamp is very important in our cities where the lights on many streets do not work and motorcycles need to negotiate a large number of potholes.
The bike comes in four very attractive colors – Midnight Purple, Indigo Blue, Raptor Green & Knight Black and all for an amazing tag of Rs. 50, 000 odd. So go burn the road without burning your pockets.
