Kinetic honda, sorry, kinetic only, HONDA is gone. The best scooter of india (ungeared segment). First the kinetic engineering collaborated with HONDA to produce scooters.Kinetic which is based in pune has no tieups with Honda. Honda has come as a seperate market player. They have already started producing scooters in india namely activa, dio & eterno (geared surprise).
I personally think that a ungeared scooter is best for city conditions, there is no need to change gears. But the main problem of a ungeared scooter is it doesnt gives a good average. The old kinetics had kevihin type of carb...., it was good, but gave only 30+kmpl.So the pepole in kinetic changed the carb to spaco, it had manual choke. It gave around 45+kmpl in the city.But is gave a lot of problems, namely starting trouble, frequent tuning, etc. They even changed the sliencer.
The old model can be tuned to give around 45+kmpl, this depends upon the mechanic. The job of the carb is to send the correct amountof air and fuel to the combustion chamber. The air screw and the idling screw must tuned for m\better mileage.
The major problem of anr kinetic is the low groung clearence. This can be rectified by just adding a piece of HIGH TEMPO metal to the rear shock absorbers head. This requires experts in kinetic honda, becoz the piece should be measured correctly and welded properly. The other way to increase the groung clearence is to use ACTIVAs front shock absorbers (this is done in chennai as per customers requirements) The ZX is powerful , you can make it more powerful by opening the port for exhaust in the cylinder, but this will bring down the mileage.
