I bought a kinetic style in december 2000 and have not had any major problem with it so far. of course I am very careful with its maintenance be it prompt oil change or any other matter. it gives me 36 kilometers to a liter which is of course not what the company proclaims.
i bought this style because I was looking for a vehicle for a short term of not more than three years and did not want to spend for a full fledged scooter. I did survey the other options available at that time that is the tvs scooty and bajaj spirit but found style to be superior to both in some ways or other. for example style has a separate oil pump which allows for optimal oil for the engine in times of need. I have touched the speed of 60 km/hr while riding single and 50km/hr with pillion quite effortlessly. with a pillion it does make some crying sounds(i guess it is expected with an under 75cc displacement). the other two similar vehicles are much less in this department.
i have had only minor repairs done so far and I have done 5600 kilometers on very bad roads(touchwood). the problems I have faced so far:the cap of the petrol tank has cracked and it is indeed difficult to come by its spares. the rubber quality used for the accessories is also of a poor quality and cracks in under an year. the choke wire broke after an year but the company had extended the warranty period to one and a half year so it was promptly changed. the exhaust system is very low and touches the road at almost every turn if one is not very careful.(all kinetic scooters have this problem)
at the time I bought it I did not have a workable choice in that price range but today one of the kinetic scooter is available for just a few thousand more so I guess one should go for that.
also I would like to add here that I had availed the kinetic finance. it is a very laid back organisation. they started collecting the postdated cheques I had deposited only after about three months of the purchase. and now that I am eligible for the transfer of ownership(hypothecation) I am told the company will again take atleast three months to send the papers!!
so; if anyone really does not want to spend much they can think of buying this vehicle.
