I purchased Flyte on 3-1-2008, Its almost a year now and I have completed 5 services and 10000 Kms. The main reason for purchasing this vehicle was less seat height, so that my daughter could touch both her feet on the ground while sitting & driving. The seats of "Access" & "Activa" are at a greater height. However daughter showed disinclination to drive after initial learning and I am using this along with my Apache 150. I would like to give a proper review for those who want to purchase this scooter.
-Engine: Super smooth without vibration till top speed of 80 kms(on Eastern Express Highway), Even my Apache vibrates at above 60 Kmph. My earlier Bajaj Champion 4S use to vibrate above 55 Kmph. However Ind-Suzuki was just smooth like this. A word of caution - above 65-70 Kmph speed the engine is very smooth but because of light wt. the scooter sways to both sides. Drive at high speed only if traffic density is less. No engine Maintenance prob. so far.
-Transmission:Very smooth but there is some lag in movement initially on suddenly opening throttle. No problems faced so far.
-Suspension: The vehicle is very pleasurable to drive on smooth tar road, but on rough roads give bumpy ride. To give an idea, on a bumpy road if I can drive "Apache 150" at 30Kmph, then for same level of comfort(or Discomfort) I have to drive at 20Kmph on Flyte. Flyte is not suitable for rural roads.
-Fuel System: In a Mumbai Traffic(50% Single Seat+50%Double seat) I get between 22 Km/Liter to 30 Km/Liter(in Best Condition). I expected 30 Km/Liter in worst condition before buying. In addition to this when fuel needle is showing reserve maximum 3.6 Liters of Petrol can be filled. This much fule generally lasts me for around 90 Kms. Hence practically every two days I have visit Pump. Problems- About 15 days back the fuel gage needle has started behaving erratically and the whole fuel+Speedo gage needs to be replaced. Pl. note that in other scooters you can open the seat cover, tank and then peep into tank to observe fuel level. In Flyte you have to depend on Luck.
-Luggage Carrying: This is where I like the scooter most. Good Space below seat and behind handle. However space between handle and seat is slightly less compared to other scooters.
-Acceleration: Is adequate, however this is not a racer and dont expect to zoom past all.
-People wonder why extra 25 CCs(100+25) are not reflected in acceleration, yes they are not reflected in acceleration but you can climb heavy slope with two heavy people without slightest protest from the engine, compared to Activa.
-Starting: There is no problem with button start, but kick starting(When Batt is down) is not easy, especially for ladies. Try this at Dealer before buying and dont be under impression that after little practise this will be easy. If the engine is kept slow this is too difficult.
-Putting on Stand: Side stand is easy to use but on slope(Since there are no gears) this is not always possible. Putting on main stand with practise will be easy even for the ladies. One more Imp point is that in tight crowded parking, if there are two vehicle to the left & right of your vehicle, You can easily pull the vehicle by standing in front of it without losing balance. This is not possible with heavy 100, 125 cc Motorcycles.
-In a very crowded space, where the people are walking in front of you it is difficult to control the scooter at very low speeds, compared to geared motorcycles.
-While driving, if you look at speedometer, you have to turn your head down, which means you loose road view for that much time and at high speed may be dangerous. On my "Apache" / Other Motorcycles, without turning head you can shift eye-focus from road to speedometer & back.
-Horn: Horn is rather weak.
In case any one has any particular problem I would be glad to answer if I can.
