But before I describe to u the perfect light n? lively machine, let me first tell you this - it is better, you do not get too finicky about the purrrfect machine, coz the perfect machine is there only in our minds, not in the market. Atleast for now. And so, having known this perfect truth, I did what everybody else does. Choose the better one from the less perfect or the near perfect ones.
Six months back when I was peering into every scooterette ads and going thru almost every scrap of paper which talked about scooterettes, not to exclude the hordes of websites (mouthshut.com included) I was left to choose finally from Bajaj Spirit, TVS Scooty and Kinetic Zing. These are the three major players in this segment, I concluded, and if I am not satisfied with any of them, I could simply put my money in the bank and take an auto. I decided to evaluate these three and a few important parameters of their comparative analysis I looked at, is there below for you to see:

Now, my idea of a perfect scooterette was that, firstly, it must be light, considerably less than the 90-100 kgs Bajaj scooters. (Before I go on, I must tell you that I was looking for a locomotive for my dad who is on the other side of 60 and my idea of perfect scooter was keeping his requirements in mind).
Secondly, it must have a button start which works, if not always, at least 95 out of the 100 times you press.
Thirdly, it must have a contemporary look.
And fourthly, I did not want a cow which only looks gorgeous. It?s performance should also be promising, mileage and maintenance wise.
Looking at all these factors, I felt Kinetic Zing would be the right choice.
Because, from all the literature I could gather, I found out that Zing is much better in maintenance and mileage from the other two. Kinetic Motors, being the pioneers in introducing more electronics in scooters, their button start would be more reliable. The only bone of contention was the weight but it was compensated with it?s extra engine power and fuel capacity and about it?s looks, I had no second thoughts. It was absolutely contemporary and what u would call coool. Another great thing about it?s looks is that anybody on it looks and feels good. Be it your munna or munni, who can ostensibly show off to their friends their new cool carrier. Or your mom and dad who will enjoy the gearless ride on it feeling they are actually half their age. And your office-going lady will probably feel that with time her age actually decreases!
To cut the story short, it?s an all-age-group unisex locomotive.
But as I told you, it is not the perfect scooterette coz it does not have a fuel gauge (TVS scooty has it).
Coz it will require more often than not the choke for the first start in the morning (but it will always start unlike it?s peers).
Coz it?s rear is not fully covered exposing some parts of the engine which to me is very unaesthetic (Bajaj spirit has a nice backside).
Coz it?s side stand, which is a necessity, is a separate accessory. But if you thought the turn-on signal buzzer is a necessity, the Bajaj guys do not feel so while they provide you the side stand with the standard product.
And yes, I liked the Kinetic guys show room and their service centres. And their service also has been reasonably good.
Now, six months into buying Zing, I am convinced my choice was the right given the other alternatives I had. It was more close to my ?dream perrfect machine? than the others.
My dad soon fell in love with it and when my dad is not using it, you can indubitably find me chilling out on it.
