After a series of absolute let downs where u wanted to forget the movie by the time the lights came on in the theatre, FINALLY a movie that lives up to the expectations left by the trailer!
the cast may not be the creme de la creme of the hollywood crop but they came together really well to bring about a wonderful creation...or rather recreation of the original story!
Hats off to mr jack black in particular who delivered a performance very very different from anything hes ever done before....naomi watts did a wonderful job of being the damsel the mighty kong falls for and my brody did whatever he could in his minor role as the damsels hero knight!!!
The movies itself starts off pretty slow though, with the build up being based on the lives of naomi as a struggling theatre actress and jack as a has been movie director.
he needs an actress, she needs work and bam, mr black may just be able to make his movie!
they set sail to find the magical location where jack wants his movie to be shot.. and by the way, the simple mr brody(script writer for jacks movie) is tricked into the journey by his wily director!
anyhow the journey itself proves to be treacherous and once they find the island...
ENTER King Kong!!!
the movie picks up pace rapidly and from here on in is a wonderful watch until right at the end where the king kong is finally killed, which was dragged on longer than necessary!
anyway the movie is a definite watch, king kong fan or not!the special effects are pretty good for the most part.
2 things I found interesting, u see the kong as the beast that he is and u see his soft side which I thought was depicted pretty well! and the most enjoyable part for me was definitely the touch of humour that was added to mix the flavour a lil bit, that was brilliantly executed by mr peter jackson. bravo!
