Remaking a film is a highly risky process and when it is a movie that has settled as a

legend in the minds of the people, the task becomes still more difficult. But when the task is achieved , the sense of satisfaction for the director should be overwhelming. And I’m sure Peter Jackson is overwhelmed with the response for his film King Kong, the remake of a legendary 1933 film King Kong.

The storyline of the movie has only a few differences from the former and the second remake that came in 1970’s.But the techinical advancement of the visual effects field has played a major part. The film is an excellent entertainer and grabs your senses at every point of time.

Naomi Watts plays Ann Darrow, the lead and the story is pivoted around her.Adrien Brody plays her lover and the script writer in the movie.Jack Black plays the director.Their performances are so natural. And everyone has a good role to play. The hero of the movie ’’Kong’’ appears only at the 70th minute of the film, but even before that there were no murmurs in the theatre.Even before the arrival of the hero, the movie grips.Especially the scenes of tribals and ship wreckage. And after the King kong arrives , there is nothing to say, just seat-end sitting adventure. To Mention in special, the scenes of Kong fighting with T-rex and saving Ann from a herd of T-rexes are just breath taking.

Coming to the most important part of the film, Visual effects and animation. The CGI and Visual effects by Weta Digital are just breathtaking. The sets that add up to the effects of the scene and the combination of miniatures and CGI transforms you in to a new world and certainly makes you feel that this is the most expensive movie made until now.If you can see the jungle and skull island are mixtures of huge sets, miniatures and CGI and it really works out well. But Even then , there were very minute CGI bugs, I should say. When the dinosaurs roll down and raptors chase, I could see some bugs. But that doesn’t matter. The pace and the screenplay never lags.Excellent Cinematography by Andrew Lesnie and Derek Whipple. The art department needs a big round of applause, for the Skull island and the City as in 1933.The background score and sound effects gush up the tension in the thrilling moments.

Peter Jackson’s Dream of remaking the film is a real treat for the audience and credits to those involved in the making of this entertainer. But Could it make it to the 1933’s original, where puppets were used and a whole new dimension to cinema was given? Can’t say.But King Kong is definitely a big entertainer and is worth every penny.
