We used Kingfisher recently on the Mumbai-Hong Kong sector (both ways). On the way out, the flight was deliberately delayed to wait for passengers arriving on a connecting flight, but the arrival time was OK.
The check-in experience was smooth, no complaints. The in-flight hostesses did look a bit tired, though. It is as if the initial drive to exceed the expectations of the customer is now slowly waning! If that is so, Kingfisher needs to pull up its socks!
One of the TV monitors in my group was not working - the hostess promised to reset it from the mains (whatever that means!), but it did not work throughout the flight. Perhaps it was a problem that needed maintenance, something the hostess could do nothing about.
The drinks seemed to be adequate, with a good choice in spirits, and a choice of 2 or 3 fruit juices. My only gripe is that they should come around with the drinks trolley more often - they just come twice. Maybe they dont want any drunk passengers!
The food on both the journeys was good, warm, and presented nicely. Full marks for that!
The seating is cramped - but thats economy class, made famous by Shashi Tharoor as cattle class! So I guess I cannot really complain about it.
I just got the feeling that the urge to excel and outdo other airlines and be the best seems to be waning in the staffs body language and attitude. This is my personal opinion, I could be wrong. But, on the whole, an airline worth recommending.
