I recently had the opportunity to fly kingfisher airlines on a trip from Delhi to Bangalore. My experience was pretty much a mixed affair.
To begin with, I had to wait for a pretty long time at the checkin counter, maybe it was just coz they had almost 5 flights lined up at the same time?
Then there was a delay on the flight, about which I wasnt informed at the checkin counter, and only when I overheard someone else saying this, I confirmed it with one of their staff who was available to assist check in customers - The one facility I liked though, is that they have roving agents to check in customers who have only hand baggage and to issue a boarding pass on the spot, this service I dont think is offered by any other airline till date!
Once onboard we were advised that we would be delayed by another Hour(2 hrs in total including the prev delay), the air hostesses did a pretty good job of getting some snacks organised during our wait for take off(Incidentally due to ATC delays as advised by the pilot)
The inflight entertainment system was pretty much what everybody needed to get by that delay, and I am sure it helped to cut down our irritation at the delays!
Once we took off the flight information system displayed on the Inflight entertainment system was very informative with a handy distance calculator, which im sure was connected to a GPS system, which enabled us to check our location on the map, the altitude at which we were flying, the ground speed etc.
The food served was excellent to say the least, I have never had this kind of food on any other airline! (trust me I have flown quite a few full cost airlines!)
The cost of the ticket though, would have justified the great food served onboard!
Once we landed, the process was pretty smooth to get to the terminal and collect our baggage!
This experience was one of the best I have ever had, save for the fact that I was not informed of the delay, which should have been done I thought, at the check in, though I need to give the agent a margin as she might have been harried with the number of guests waiting in line!
The other thing I liked was that, customers are called "Guests" which gives an altogether different feel when your onboard, All in all Mr.Mallya, you have done a great job and won yourself a repeat customer! - oh oh, im sorry, a repeat Guest!:-)
