Before starting this review, I want to stay a big HI and express my happiness to be back on MS! I think the last few months have been the most hectic for me. Of course, it?s still going to be for a few more weeks(but anyways).
After moving into my new house, my friend told me to go see Kismat. I asked her who was acting. Boby Deol.....umm, ok, and?..Priyanka Chopra?.this movie has a 35% chance of being stupid. However, as usual, I decided to be brave and went ahead to see this movie.
Before you continue, I must tell you, whenever you see this:???.., it means those were my thoughts at that present time.
THE PLOT
The movie starts of with a couple taking their nephew to Aamchi Mumbai. Somewhere down the lane, they abandon him(cruelty personified). He comes out crying from the station. After sometime, he goes and asks a bunch of street kids for something to eat. One of them laughs in your true Hindi film way of mocking someone style, and tells him that you don?t ask, you always have to snatch your food here. And so the obedient little child snatches the food and runs away.
Cut to present?. Our hero is running after hitting/robbing someone(it?s easy to forget from this movie)?? Oh God, lets not hope it?s the ghisa pita love story of a heroine changing the hero form a good guy to a bad guy??. And this movie proved that you don?t always get what you wish for. Just as a present time introduction of Bobby Deol, we see one of his works: to beat up someone and get some car- anyways while he?s doing this, some other guy in a car see?s him do this.
Bobby Deol?s best friend, Goli, takes him to see some singer?s show. Guess who guys? There, after seeing one song of Priyanka Chopra, he starts to think he loves her??I wonder how many other guys do, but since he?s the hero, anyways?.. so then the chase starts. Hero follows heroine everywhere- shootings, dances??wonder where all his work disappeared now. So, then after the series of following, he finally proposes her. But idher to problem hai, typical hindi movie twist our heroine is engaged to somebody else. Then our modern Devdas sits on the road blocking traffic and drinking beer.
After all this melodrama, the story takes a twist altogether, but believe me it?s very boring. Now, remember that guy who saw Bobby Deol beating up the guy for the car, he suddenly gets involved in something?..this part was pretty much a social comment on India. He finds out that and export/import company gets some stamp some fake expiry dates on vaccinations. He doesn?t take bribes by the owner of the company and therefore lands up in trouble. Guess who is sent to threaten him his and his family?s life? Yes! You got it right Bobby Deol??I bet anything that doctor will turn up to be Priyanka Chopra?s father?..This movie also proved that sometime my instincts are right.
Then the movie bores you on how Bobby Deol saves his girlfriend after she tries to commit suicide, and his girlfriend?s father?..snore, snore, huh? What the movie is over?! Finally!
ACTING
You might this section terribly boring since it?s pretty boring itself to talk about.
Mostly Bobby Deol, Priyanka Chopra, and Bobby Deol?s friend had scope to act. Sadly only one of them actually managed it.
Bobby Deol- He looked wooden mostly everywhere. Blank expressions, or shocked expressions- that?s mostly about it. He could have improved in his dialogue dlivery, facial expressions, his reactions......
Priyanka Chopra- She as usual just danced throughout and cried a few times. Acting was completely out of her mind when she shot the movie. When, oh when will she improve? On an more interesting note, it was much more interesting to see Lara Dutta?s one song, Aisa Jadoo(which happens to be on my favourite lists nowdays) than see Priyanka Chopra through the whole movie.
Bobby Deol?s friend-Sorry I don?t know his friend, but I know he was in Hungama. He?s the only one you could actually see AT TIMES. I mean, his role was so short so he just goes along-Chalega
ON THE WHOLE
Kismat was one of those movies which is plane stupid, idiotic, boring, and dead. Even KHNH is more interesting-Atleast you can thrash the movie while it?s going on(and I liked Preity and Saif).
Don?t bother seeing it. Not worth your money, and definitely not worth your time.
ON A MORE CHEERFUL NOTE: Why not go see Ab Tak Chappan instead?
