Yesterday a friend and me made the fatal mistake of watching the latest Subhash Ghai movie, Kisna - The Warrior Poet at Rex. It is probably one of the movies you would never wish your enemies to see (Ok, I may be exaggerating a bit..).
I was planning on detailing the screenplay a bit, but it would be a waste of everyones time . Suffice it to say that the movie contains everything from love, jealousy, partition, hindu-muslim riots, Indias struggle for independence, the benefits a single glass of milk cam provide in producing healthy babies, and gymnastics on trees everytime the village belle wants to express her emotions (be it jealousy, angst, love - one rope fits all),
The plot (if there was one) ran astray in all directions, there were dialogues which evoked laughter from the crown at their lack of finesse, and this girl Laksmi with her rope (No doubt a good dancer, but then this was supposed to be a movie). There were cameos from stalwarts like the late Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Sushmita Sen - but to no avail.
Probably the only saving grace in the movie was the wonderful crowd at Rex, which suffered through the entire debacle with good humour. That, and some good music from A R Rehman / Ismail Darbar.
Do not watch this one even if you have nothing else to do ..
