Ok...So peechle hafte isi din isi samay...(almost isi samay), my brother, sis and I made up our minds to go watch Kisna. So we went for the 10.20 pm show @ Fun Republic...the theatre was full...after all it was the day after the movie released, so ppl must have not an idea of how it was etc...thankfully, the show started on time...
A la Titanic the character Katherine (Antonia Bernath) was in present day India...with 2 TV news reporters eagerly trying to get a story from her...now Katherine is shown to be an important VIP sorts who the Indian govt is trying to please her so that she makes the promised donation for rural India development...when asks where she would like to go, she mentions Dev Prayag...and everyone (including the 2 journos) are shocked...and then she goes into Once upon a time in Dev Prayag mode...and now until the end, the viewers are left shocked :)
In pre-independence India, Katherine, the little daughter of a British High Commissioner, is very fond of Kisna (the son of their familys helper)...Kisna (Vivek Oberoi) is also fond of her...but at that time they are just friends...Laxmi (Isha Sharvani) is Vikram Gokhales daughter and the latter is a dance teacher...Laxmi is very jealous of Kisnas relationship with Katherine...when Katherines father finds out about his kids friendship with Kisna, he packs her off to London....
A few years later, Katherine (all grown up and very pretty looking) comes back to India and immediately rushes to meet Kisna (all grown up and...well...not so pretty looking !!!) Again, Laxmi is rather pissed...and breaks into a dance whenever she is upset...actually, she breaks into a dance on any emotion...happiness, sadness, jealousy, whatever...
And then a whole bunch of villains emerge...right from Kisnas brother (the bad guy turned good from Lagaan), Amrish Puri (Kisnas mama...), Prince Raguveer or some such (Mahesh Uncle from Dil Chahta Hai)...everyone is out to get Katherine...and Kisnas mother (Zarina Wahab) tells (or rather, orders) him to do his Karam and save Katherine from their clutches...and then the cat and mouse race begins...which goes on and on and on...oh and btw, between all this, Kisna and Laxmi have been engaged...Laxmi is shocked that her to-be husband has gone all out to save a Gori etcetera...most of the movie is like Apan Yanna Pahilat Ka...where everyone is looking for someone else !!!
Vivek Oberoi is so-so in the movie...cannot blame him since the movie is not even that...
Antonia is nice...does well inspite of being in a movie where everything is like goulash...
Isha Sharvani does not anything much except dance...and hang from a tree on occasions!!!
We were all highly disappointed...and so was everyone who I saw leaving the theatre...some people even left during the interval...we also left around 5 to 10 minutes before the credits would have rolled in...
As you would have figured by now...please DO NOT watch Kisna....especially dont spend too much moolah and watch it in a swanky multiplex...if u want to watch it, get a VCD when its out...
