You know what, I didn?t read any article or review on Kisna as I wanted to have my mind to be as clear as possible, otherwise we also tend to think like the written words in the Newspapers/Websites.
So, my mind was dew fresh when I went to see Kisna along with my three other friends, we were hoping of some epic like thing or something near to it but the result was disastrous.
I think the whole idea of making a period, bi-lingual and having British actors was INSPIRED by none other than LAGAAN.
After Lagaan every filmmaker is eyeing on Oscars or least an Oscar nomination, If a kal ka chhokra like Ashtoush Can get it why the VETERANS like us cant get closer to it, so have a subject which has closer proximity to that of one and only one Lagaan.
So you have Kisna.
Nothing works in Kisna, not the script, actors, costumes, setting, art designing, choreography(Shyamak Dawar has ruined it completely), stunts and not even the cinematography which is actually shot by the grear Ashok Mehta, its not even 1% of Mr. Mehta did in MOKSHA.
The only saving point of Kisna is the British Actress and the Music of the film but the songs do not look part of the story and feels like they are added once shot by Mr.Shyamak.
The new girl Isha, god only knows what is she doing in the movie, she looks more of an acrobat(performing breathtaking Hata Yoga) than a Radha of Kishan, her face has this typical Model look , but frankly speaking the poor girl has been given a raw deal by Mr.Ghai, every now n then she is hanging on a Banyan Tree on a rope whether she is happy or very sad, she does the same thing again n again, people in the theatre started to clap whenever she appears on the screen as they expect some more acrobatic sruff(I never heard so many clapping n whistles in a theatre of Singapore) if the scene is a sad scene and the audience is clapping be sure you have made a disaster, that?s exactly what Mr Ghai did.
Thank God that Hritik Roshan didnt do the movie as there is no footage for the hero , the focal point of the movie is the British actress.
The movie desperately tries to have everything, an item no by Sushmita Sen (Maha Boring), a little cameo by Om Puri, Hindu-Muslim riots(imagine a police officer saying arre raja saab app, aap kyuoo apni Maa .......mera matlab hai kya kar rahe hai curfew me...it sucks, at least not expected from Mr. Ghai, more suitable to Mahesh Manjrekar and Ram Gopal Verma types.)
The entire movie sucks specially the scenes in which Kisna explains to Katherine about the Indian culture n bla, bla.
Kisna is basically Arjun who fights with his own brothers and relatives like that in Mahabharta for the goodness to prevail in the end.
So, the title Kisna doesnt fit into the scheme of the things of the film.
Whatever Mr. Ghai wanted to make, he made a total trash, I think it?s his worst; even yadein had its moment.
But this one disappoints, BIG TIME.
