Being an avid reader, I pick books randomly from the bookshops, streets with no particulat preferences. The something should click on to make you go for the book. N that happeend with ’The Kite Runner’. I just happen to see the cover page and fell immediately in love with it. When I turned over to read the gist all my love for it seemed to fade away.
The backdrop was war/afghanistan/taliban and I had swore no more stories with war as backdrop I will ever read as I believe whoever has written books with war as backdrop have never been able to do justice to the
story. They often got lost in talking just about the war in the book. If you want to talk about war , write it as a war book but if you want to use it as a backdrop then better stick to that.
Anyways torn between
the love for the cover page and hate for the gist, I thought of giving myself one last chance and bought it. And trust me, the day I finished the book I felt soemthing missing from my life. I was so engrossed
while reading the book that when I finished it I started missing those charatcers terribly. Its one amazing book portrayin love/friendship/union/betrayal/reunion et al. I would highly recommend
this book to all who believe in love and friendship.
