This drama serial ’’Kushum’’ is equally popular in Bangladesh too. However here mostly women like this serial. I have seen very few men in my circle who watch this serial regularly. Here the only thing I dislike is the absence of middle class people. The story centers around Kapoor and Kawar family (both of them are very rich). We hardly see Kushum’s father, sister or brother (is it because they are not rich?). Except this, I like everything in this serial. Normally in most serials often the god persons are presented as tolerating all the injustice with a tearful eye. This is the thing Kushum has tried to change. When it comes to fight with the evils she does it with courage. The writer of “Kushum” has succeeded in drawing a line between accepting everything blindly and forgiving a foe with magnanimity. Kushum did it with many persons- Nikita, Devangshi, Reema, Tashu, Abhay and so on but when she thought that she would fight then she did it with all her heart too. This is the thing that “Kushum” has taught me. There is nothing wrong in life to forgive others even our worst enemy but at the time we must not forget that when our honour is at stake we must fight with all we have.
The relationship of Kushum and Sid is one of the most romantic ones I have seen in TV. They were so happy together and belonged to each other. Unfortunately, many attempts were made to break this relationship and finally Reema and debanghshi succeeded. Their success came at a bitter price- the death of their only son. So, the bad guys do not always win. The death of Siddhart only makes us realize that good times do not last forever and we should make the most of it as long as we have it. After marrying Kushum the first Siddhart should have done was to take her away to a new city or country and settle there. But he and Kuhum and looked at the strength of their couple life not at the efforts of their enemies. They took their enemies too lightly and they suffered for it. In real life we often try to have a blind eye to the faults and mistakes of our close ones. Often we intentionally make friendship with the bad guys only for our self-interest. Many men select a girl for marriage only for her beauty or her father’s money and on the other hand many women select their husband only on the basis of money. By doing so they only buy unhappiness because a bad person will be bad with everyone and everywhere.
Kushum and Siddhart were both so lucky that they found an ideal partner. In real life there are many good women suffering in marriage at the hands of bad and insensitive husbands. At the same time there are many men too who suffer from bad wives. Kushum realized it too after she married Abhay. Siddhart made a terrible mistake by doubting Kushum. It cost him his happiness. There was no shortage in his love but he was not bold enough to ask Kushum not to mix with Abhay or his family when the first seeds of suspicion came in his mind. Kushum should also not forget that her first priority is always for her husband not to try to give comfort to the Kapoor family.
These little mistakes only takes away happiness from life. Kushum and Siddhart made the mistake of not making each other the whole world in their life. A mistake that we should not repeat in our own life.
