This is regarding items which were missing from my delayed baggage when it was delivered to my house after 2 days.
I flew down from Denmark to Bombay, and 1 of my 4 suitcases did not arrive with the flight. So I lodged a complaint and on KLMs request deposited the Keys with them along with custom clearance.
After 2 days I did get my baggage promptly, but I found that my suitcase has been thoroughly searched and all my packing opened and items missing. I lost couple of thousand INR, expensive winter jacket, chocolates, belts and clothes. My god, it was as if the suitcase was opened to rob things rather than inspect.
This is the worst experience I have with an international airline. They are basically thieves at the mumbai airport who must have done this. This is totally unacceptable and ridiculous.
When my wife called and spoke to KLM staff, the customer care has the balls to say that the BAG must have been opened in Amsterdam( my stopover) . This is how cheap indians get when it comes to stealing other peoples goods.
I have lost goods worth nearly 150 EUROS and the Airline is giving me a compensation of 33 USD which they say is according universal weight chart.!
Anwyays this is India and the more you fight, the more frustrated you get. So I can only advice you,
If your baggage is delayed, do not give your keys or lock combination, even if it is a International Airline. Some Indians will always be dishonest in every place they work( I am sorry to say this, but I am also an Indian, and proud to be one) but this attitude totally sucks.
You should be present when they open your baggage, which assures that no one will flick things our of your bag.
