I flew KLM from San Francisco to Amsterdam to Nuremberg in economy class last summer and overall, I really liked the airline. The people at the check-in-counter were cordial but nothing out of the ordinary. Our flight was on time. On the TransAtlantic flight, we flew a 777 and the inflight entertainment selection was better than any other I have seen on a 777. The flight attendants were very attentive, coming by every hour at least offering drinks. About every 2.5 hours they came by and offered us some snacks like crackers and at one point ice cream. We were given 2 meals, dinner and breaksfast inflight. The dinner was better than most airplane food, the best that I have ever had. I had the chicken meal because pasta inflight always tastes cold to me. The breakfast consisted of fruit, yogurt, a roll and a Neapolitan pudding type stuff. The pudding stuff was really my only complaint because it didn’t really have any flavor to it. Our flight was really good and the pilot handled all the turbulence that we went through really well. Upon arriving in Amersterdam, we had to trek across the airport and wait 3 hours for our little Fokker 80 that would take us to Nuremberg. The flight was also good and we were served a light meal consisiting of a sandwhich, some crackers and a drink all of which was better than most school cafeteria lunches. The flight attendants(there were 2) on that flight were courteous but they mostly kept to themselves. On our flight back, the flight attendants on the Fokker were courteous as well but then on the TransAtlantic flight, some of the flight attendants seemed a bit aloof at the beginning, though throughout the flight they seemed to loosen up. The head flight attendant and captain had a sense of humor though, making light of the turbulence that we were going through, which put the passengers at ease. bout 1/2 way into the flight the flight attendants put out some Twix Bars, Snickers, pretzels and other goodies in the galley for us. We thoroughly enjoyed that. As we landed, our landing was so smooth that I didn’t even realize that we had landed until I looked out the window and saw that we were on the ground.
Overall, I really enjoyed the flight and am looking forward to flying with them again.
