I have had some wonderful sizzlers in India notably at the Only Place in Bangalore, but my recent experience at Kobe Sizzlers, Phoenix Mills, Mumbai was enough to put me off sizzlers for the next couple of years at least.
I had ordered a mixed grill (BTW - one of the most expensive meals on the menu) and my wife a chicken grill - both came badly burnt- basically the cook seemed to believe that the longer the sizzler sizzled the better it was - so he over heated the metal plate burning the food in the process - I got a whole lot of charcoal instead of meat - couldn’t finish it! Nor could my wife as it was equally burnt.
The oil was burnt and bubbling out of the dish. And all the dishes tasted the same - no one heard of different dishes having a different seasoning or sauce!m And the manager couldn’t care less. When we complained about the burnt food he disappeared! When I called him again he offered to get us another dish but he apparently was satisfied that the dish was absolutely all right! And he charged us for the uneaten burnt dishes to add insult to injury! He offered me a 15% discount - had a half a mind to leave it them as a tip to get the cook some cooking lessons!
And the way people were trooping in they apparently didn’t know better!
Just a bad bad experience!
