Kodaikanal. Kodai means summer in Tamil and Kanal means Mirage. This name really suits this place. when Ooty has over populated and Yercaud not so good as ooty and Munnar still quite not developed...... Kodai is your best destiny for the summer. Located 128 Kilometres from Madurai, it is well connected by roads and rail. Alight at Kodai Road if travel by train and you have ample transportation waiting at the railway station for the uphill journey. The Ghat roads run for a stretch of 48 Kms filled with scenic beauty. First you are welcomed by the Dum Dum falls which seems as a replica of Jog falls. Then travel amidst the Coffee plantations and butter fruit plantations to reach the silver falls. Relax for sometime and climb further up to reach Kodai. Kodai..... When you go there.... make sure you go on prior hotel room bookings. In season, it is realllllly hard to get a room and it is damn costly. A decent double bedroom will cost you atleast 2k per day and The carlton of 5 star category charges upto 4.5k. Places to See....... Pillar Rock Suicide Valley The Lake The Upper Lake View Cokers Walk and if you get a permission to goto Berijam situated above 25Kms beyond Kodai, Thats heaven!! There are certain cottages located beyond Kodai. Try them rather than the hotels inside. Thats really calm. Situated amidst the carrot and potatoe gardens. Temperature is really really sexy!!!! Just try it out and you’ll start hating Ooty!!! For Sure!!!
