Serene mountains !!

There are few more refreshing Tamil Nadu moments than boarding a bus in the heat-soaked plains and disembarking in the sharp pinch of a Kodaikanal night or morning. It’s not all cold though; during the day the weather is positively pleasant, more reminiscent of deep spring than early winter. been here on a family vacation trip during end of summer around end of May.

We stayed there for a couple of days and the climate was awesome. cool, fresh, serene. the nights were very cold, although the locals were used to it but for someone from Mumbai you never expect such low temperatures in May. Since monsoons arrive early in Southern region of India I remember the first night it rained slightly and the temperatures dropped further and the climate became even better. perfect for a romantic getaway. sites to visit are Coakers Walk, assuming it’s not cloaked in opaque mist, the valley views along paved Coaker’s Walk are superb.

There’s no plastic allowed on the pathway, a rule flagrantly flaunted by locals, and a small observatory with telescope at the southern end. Kodaikanal Lake is an artificial, roughly star-shaped, path that skirts the periphery of this lovely lake is a favourite walk for the locals and tourists alike. Kodaikanal Solar observatory, Pillar Rocks and Dolphin nose are other scenic sites. you’ll definitely ahem great memories of this place and leave with the desire of coming back again.
