"Kodaikanal is one of the most scenic hill stations I ever have been to" and probably the best in Tamil Nadu. There are many places you can visit, the places which I liked I am writing down here:-
- Kodai Lake, here you can hire a bicycle and roam around the lake or can ride a horse or can do boating which ever you like, the best time to go here is in the evening, although it is crowded in tourist season but looking the activities around you is in itself a thrill to watch.
-Echo Point and Dolphin nose trek in Vattakanal is a must for every nature lover, this place is outside Kodaikanal but is a must visit and my favourite place in Kodai( as we say), it is a very short trek but yet tired some as while coming back is a uphill task for most of the persons, but when you will reach the dolphin nose you can enjoy the beauty of the nature and you will take your steps further you will reach ECHO POINT where the nature’s beauty is at peak. So now the point arrises how to reach this beautiful place, I will tell you How you can arrive at Kodaikanal from CHENNAI, from my experience:-
- You can take a train from Chennai to Dindigul and then take a bus from Dindigul to Kodaikanal you can go via bus or sometimes there are Taxis also available outside the Railway Station.
-You can book tickets of private bus directly from Chennai to Kodaikanal and bus service from Kodaikanal to Bangalore is also available, also sleeper buses are also available.
Accommodation:-
As like all other Hill station there are plenty of options to stay in Kodaikanal with different price ranges.
For other local sight seeing you can book taxis from Taxi stand just outside the bus stand, but you have to bargain hard for a good deal.
This is one the best weekend getaway from Chennai.
