Quite an entertaining show!

All right, so Koffee with Karan Johar is back, courtesy Kabhi

Alvida na kehna getting released and forgotten immediately. And the

question which every one interested in the show would want to ask would

be: Is

this one as interesting, less interesting or for the better more

interesting than the first season. I would choose the first option:

primarily because nothing much has been changed..... Ummm, okayyy... to

be honest, nothing has changed: same host, same sets, same set of

patterns, and whats more: same celebrity guests!

Is Karan to be blamed for that: Maybe, maybe not. This guy did a

fabulous effort in the show’s first innings when he managed to get many

people of the film industry; even those he may not be very comfortable

with (Sunny/Bobby is a good example, and maybe Shobha De as well), or

maybe some people he wanted on the show didn’t have the time and the

dates or was not actually willing to take part. I really dont know. So

lets leave it at that. I was not really concerned with who appeared on

the show and who did not, but while the show lasted, it provided for

some good fun; and Karan tried his best to bring out the funny and

politically incorrect side of everyone present on the show. Right from

the masti-mazaak lovers like SRK-Abhishek-Preity to even the supposedly

serious ones like Sunny Deol/Bobby Deol and Shobha De. It was also

really nice to watch a golden beauty like Hema Malini, the ever

charming Neetu Singh and the irresistible Zeenat Aman sharing their

opinions on show. Well, what now: three new episodes have already been

aired. I would critically review each of them below:

The first episode (SRK-Kajol-Rani): Brilliant. Who takes the credit. As usual, it were SRK antics that dominated,

with help from Kajol and the comfortable relationship the threesome

share: SRK-KJo-Kajol. While I was watching it, I wasn’t really aware

this was actually an interaction between a reporter and a celebrity,

but as if a group of friends were having a good time together, joking

around. Their comfort levels with each other were the reason I enjoyed

it immensely. SRK might be a KJo favourite on the show (already been

invited 4 times.. Phew!), but everytime the house is brought down

whenever he’s on the show. Kajol was a bit rude and looked

unattractive but I liked watching her more than fake Rani, who when

asked what would she do if the three of them(SRK-Kajol-Rani) had to

jump from a plane there were only two parachutes available, replied

that she would give both of them to SRK and Kajol, coz people want to

watch them together. Damn! Anyways, the best KWK episode so far.

The second episode (Hritik-Priyanka): Boring. Hritik has an attractive personality and a hot body for the females to drool upon, but he’s plain boring when it comes to being himself and not a superhero.

Gave all the diplomatic answers possible when confronted in the rapid

fire round. And made sure he did his best to please both Karan and

Priyanka on show. The only time he tried to be honest on show was when

Karan asked him, "Who do you think is the better of the two: Aamir or Salman" and he said, "Tough to choose. both are of the same height". Hehe. Funny! but not funny enough. Priyanka was worse than Hritik.

She blushed everytime whenever she was asked anything about Harman

Baweja, the dude she’s going around with but not ready to accept she’s

in love. All she could manage was a broad grin at that. Her rapid fire

round? Same story. not a single answer that was good enough.

Third episode (Sanjay Bhansali - Mallika Sherawat): Okie Dokie.

I had frankly expected a lot more from this, especially coz of

Mallika’s debut on show, and perhaps this being her first interview/off

screen interaction I was about to watch properly. But the lady dissapointed me.

I had expected her to be in your face, open minded and frank; while she

came across as someone who was just trying too hard to sound confident

and honest. Her "superiority complex" replies were plain irritating to

say the least, which even SLB and Karan commented upon. On her reply to

Karan which said, "I would want to have a man who thinks women are superior to men", SLB replied, "But Mallika, why would you want a man who thinks like that. Why not someone who thinks men and women should be equal?" Hehe. That was smart Sanjay. Mallika was stunned for a moment, and then said, "I cant do anything about it. Its a disorder within me" Gosh! We expected a better answer from you, Mallika.

Mainly coz of the image we had about you in mind. Sanjay was good in

his replies. All his answers to Karan’s questions, whether in general

or those involved in the rapid fire round, were brutally honest,

especially to Mallika, SRK, Kunal Kohli and Himesh Reshamiya. LOL

On the whole, Koffee with Karan is quite entertaining, way better

than all the other interviews and rendezvous of stars where they are

asked the routine questions: What do you feel when your critics pan

you, how are you feeling now that your latest film has become a huge

hit etc. It rather gives a platform to the celebs to get relaxed, be

informal, and get them to speak out their real mind, and what they

really feel about others in the industry. Thats the real fun part!

Who’s next on show: Shahid-Kareena. Looking forward to it

Celebs I would want to watch: the Hera Pheri trio of Akshay, Sunil and Presh together. Now that would be something!
