"Koi Mil Gaya" is really a bigest hit of 2003. Very cute and sweet love story of Hrithik and Preity Zinta. This is the first Science-Fiction movie of india and might be the first musical science=fiction movie of world.Watch Koi Mil Gaya to find out! A joyous film, filled with sensitive moments about a mentally deprived man’s quest to obtain acceptance in his community, KMG is worth many dekhos.Performances The Baadshah Of Koi Mil Gaya Let me make one thing clear. I am by no means a fan of Hritik Roshan – the actor. (of course, I love Duggu – the dancer!).
Apart from his debut, Kaho Na Pyar Hai, and portions of Mission Kashmir and Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, he hasn’t appealed to me in any other film.Having said this, let me emphatically claim that he is phenomenal in Koi Mil Gaya. Simply put, this is (and might remain) his career-best performance. I have seen legends like Sridevi making a mockery of such a role by equating mental deprivation to childishness. However, bundling himself inside Rohit, Du has given a realistic and poignant performance.
He literally has gotten into the skin of the character, felt his emotions, and brought them to life beautifully. Watch his jealousy when he sees Nisha cheering for Tiger. Watch his helplessness when a bunch of spoilt brats throw a basketball at him over and over again. Watch his innocence when he equates marriage to ‘drinking Bournvita in the morning’. Watch his pride as he narrates how to copy a file in a computer. Watch his love and affection towards Jadoo!
He is simply mind-blowing in every scene as the mentally deprived Ro! However, his performance dwindles when Jadoo cures him, and once more you see Hritik – the star, not Rohit. This flaw apart, Koi Mil Gaya is worth hundred viewings just for Roshan. Truly, his dad knows how to extract a classic performance from his son!The Rani of Koi Mil Gaya Almost every review of KMG cited that Preity’s role and performance are insignificant. While I too believed so before watching the film, I beg to differ now. It’s true that neither her role nor her performance is award-worthy. But, neither of them is insignificant, and only Preity could have played this role so spontaneously.Preity combines her beguilingly naughty looks with her experience to play Nisha, the confidant of Ro, effortlessly.
Her role required an actress who could be a mentor to Ro without pitying him; it required someone who would share his adventures with Jadoo, but also teach him the value of marriage; it required someone who would be his best friend. And Preity fits the bill perfectly. She is just so unbelievably cute, yet sensible, in every scene! And it helps that she and Roshan share such a mind-blowing chemistry! Here are two performers who don’t need to shed clothes or even hug to display their comfort level
Before I forget, she is extremely gorgeous in the songs, and no one can fit more snugly into a pant and top than Preity! Haha! The Mother Of All Mothers Rekha – the legendary performer sails through her role with consummate ease. She definitely makes a much better mom to Hritik than the ever-crying-and-boring Jaya Bachan of K3G or Fiza! Shooting off the deepest expressions with a single glance, she never allows Roshan to overshadow her in their scenes together.Especially noteworthy are the following scenes:
When she finds Ro playing with his fathers computer in the outhouse.
When she first sees Jadoo.3. When she listens to Ro’s principal that they are ready to shift him to the tenth grade4. When she bids her farewell to Jadoo, and asks Ro to deliver him safely back to outer space. The Rolu-Polu Blue Jadoo Accepted that Jadoo of KMG is one of the most amateurish creations of an alien.
However, one should remember that, ultimately, KMG is targeted mainly at the kids. And, predictably, this huggable teddy bear-like alien was a smash-hit with little children! I should say that Rakesh Roshan understood the pulse of his audience and gifted them their choice! And Jadoo is not as unbearable as many claimed. His relationship with Ro is heart rendering. And the child within me laughed each time he mechanically mouthed, “Dhoop”! haha! The rest of the star cast is adequate!Songs and Choreography I hated the audio of KMG! But the videos are wonderful. My pick is the innovative picturization of Koi Mil Gaya.
Combine gorgeous locales with Preity’s beauty and outfits, and add a pinch of the Hritik-Preity chemistry to get a winner!Idhar Chala is adorable as Preity and Hritik jump and dance and enjoy themselves in the rain! Its Magic establishes Hritik’s legendary dancing skills.Jadoo is a fun song with the kids, Ro, Nisha and Jadoo. My least favorite is Haila Haila. Firstly, the choreography is mediocre. Secondly, the song is soporific!
Lastly, after watching ‘hatke’ songs in a ‘hatke’ film it pains to see a stereotypical Bollywood romantic number!Overall…. Yes! KMG has its share of flaws. The transformation from nerd to hunk is too quick and unbelievable. The spaceship is horrifying! And the climax is more commercial than realistic! However, this is one senseless movie that is thoroughly enjoyable. Rakesh Roshan’s took a gamble with KMG, which handsomely paid off. And why not? Hugely entertaining with fantastic performances from Duggu, Preity and Rekha, KMG is a fun-ride!
