1. Unjustified Daily Charges
We were charged ₹1, 160 per day as disinfection charges, even though we were already paying ₹10, 000 per day for NICU.
Disinfection should be a hospitals responsibility, yet it was billed separately.
2. Increased Doctor Visit Charges
At the time of admission, we were told that a general doctor visit costs ₹2, 500, but we were charged ₹3, 000 instead.
Even though the patient was in NICU and no regular visit was required, we were still charged.
3. Duplicate Billing and Confusing Invoices
We noticed duplicate charges for the same treatment(Lumbar Puncture) on the same day. When we questioned this, they removed one charge but later billed it again after three days.
When asked, they admitted it was a mistake and promised a refund after seven days.
As we are not from the medical field, we couldnt understand all the invoice details, but we suspect many hidden or unnecessary charges.
4. Higher Night-Time Charges
After 8 PM, every treatment was charged 1.5 times higher, even though the hospital has in-house facilities.
Many treatments were punched at night so that the system would automatically increase rates, even though the procedures were actually done during the day.
Example: See attached invoiceGluco test was punched 9 times at night. When questioned, they agreed to refund the extra charges.
5. Experienced Doctors but Contradictory Statements
The neonatal specialist initially told us, We cant say anything about the future, but all his problems have treatments available.
The cardiac doctor explained the issue well and suggested continued observation. When we asked if our child could survive with one lung, we were told, Just like a person can live with one kidney, a person can survive with one lung.
On the last day, we were told surgery was needed the next day, and a CT scan would be done before proceeding.
Just a few hours later, we were called and told that heart failure had occurred, and they had done their best.
This sudden change in communication was difficult to process. While we understand medical uncertainties, clearer expectations from the start would have helped us prepare for any outcome.
6. Lack of Proper Arrangement for Meeting Doctors
Doctors are highly knowledgeable, but there is no proper system for meeting them.
We had to wait for hours without any updates on when we could see a doctor and get information about our patient.
7. Concern for Those Who Dont Check Their Invoices
Many families trust the hospital blindly and may never check their invoices.
If the hospital is already charging premium fees, why resort to such billing practices?
Kokilaben Hospital is a big corporate institution, and such unnecessary charges and errors damage trust.
We hope this review helps others stay aware and carefully check their bills when seeking treatment here.
