When hunger pangs strike then whatever seems closest and accesible, are one step closer to bliss.
Seeing Kolkata Rolls billboard in Vashi, I was automatically drawn to try something here.
Unfortunately, there were no takers and staff were busy playing on something on their phones. Looking around the store, the menu was well marked but most prices were manually ammended with blue pen and paper stuck on the board.
Discounted that as it is understandable that when there are not many visitors then the xost of reprinting the menu is a huge price.
Also saw a poster saying that Kosha Mutton/Chicken rolls are made with authentic bengali spices and cooked in mustard oil. This was a good point for me and I decided to order a Kosha Chicken Regular, since it was my first time.
Rs 110/- for a Chicken Roll considering its a brand was not overpriced.
Considering that I asked about Kosha style cooking and use of mustard oil, and that was confirmed by staff prior to ordering, was highly dissappointed on both counts, the quantity of chicken in the roll and nothing authentic tasting in the stuffing.
Another shocker came when they handed me the wrapped roll, it said the rolls are made with wheat base, and again that was not to be. it was an out an out oily and maida paratha that was rolled around piddly amount of chicken, which was in no certain way anywhere near to bengali flavors.
So, to sum it up, I was very sad at my choice of item from a famed brand.
They really need to look at their back end and recipes if they want crowds back at their outlets, or they better pack up and make way for someone else.
I am posting the image with my cap, just so that if the proprietors are reading, they can show the pic to staff at Vashi outlet for easy recall about who visited and to recollect about my visit and hoping some training session happens for positive effects.
