Konark is one of the most famous and oldest historical monuments in india. if any one has slightest interest in history and have the opportunity to visit, it should not be missed. as such orissa is one of the most beautiful state in the country. it has all types of tourist destination - sea beaches, lakes, historical sites, temples, religious places, wild life, hill stations - you name it and you’ll have it here. and konark is the must see among all these.
actually a good trip there should start from the state capital bhuvaneshwar which is well connected by train and plane with other places in india. it has more that thousand old temples with some othe most breath taking sculptures to see. there are some old buddhist caves nearby. from there you can go to puri - famous for its temple and sea beach. though a bit crowded and dirty, its worth every bit of it.
from puri there konark can be covered in one day. the road goes along the coast and the journey itself is splendid. but I would suggest to go and stay there. the best place is some resort maintained by orissa tourism. there is also a nice beach which is one of the best in india
