Kora kagaz kora hi reh gaya!

This serial produced by Asha Parekh seems really of her times. Story revolves round Pooja, young and naive girl who comes from a middle class family and gets married to a boy of her parent’s choice. She sees her husband for the first time in the wedding and comes to know a shocking fact about him on the very night. Mahesh, her husband already has an affair with other girl and is staying with her. He gets married to Pooja only because of parental pressure. Pooja, obviously feels cheated and humiliated but opts to stay in that house with her in laws because her parents and siblings would have to face insults in the society (God knows Pooja stays in which era.)

Not only that, altho she is educated and wants to stand on her own two feet, her in laws do not permit her to work becoz of ’Khandaan ki izzat’.

Don’t they think about this ’izzat’ when their son continues to have affair with other girl even after marriage.Could not really understand what these serialwallahs want to prove by showing such kind of serials in the age where girls are almost entering all the untouched fields like space, oceanology etc.

However the later part of the story seems to be dealing with lil delicate and natural emotional entanglement. When Pooja slowly gets invloved with her younger brother in law during her 5 years stay in that house, story becomes interesting. Obviously then follows the twists & turns to the story when two lovers try to admit their love for each other and to give it a final form. Over all the story line cannot be called good. It is just about ok. It has been given lots of Hindi film touches and is stretched beyond imagination. It tests the viewers patience to its limits. Few viewers probably would have enjoyed it had it been short and sweet.
