KOSHYS .... JEWEL IN THE CROWN ....
What can you write about a restuarnt which is more than 68 years old.....
There is a culinary landmark in every city , a stand alone restaurant that every native swears by, and every tourist boasts that he has been there and done that.
This is that kind of a place. Koshys on St. Marks Road is a destination for die-hard foodies and not because they have done something new (except for the snooty Jewel Box section). Its because they have stayed with the old -- tradition is good and Koshys is laughing all the way to the bank, judging by the crowds that throng the restaurant.
Koshys Founded in 1940, it retains an old-world charm with huge pillars and large fans. The main building has Parade Cafe, which is simply referred to as Koshys, Jewel Box restaurant and a bakery. It is said that Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Nikita Khrushchev, Queen Elizabeth II, are some of the celebrities to have dined there. It has also won MTVs award for the Most Stylish Place in Bangalore. -
There are 3 sections in this age old restaurant... Smoking section has its old age aura still. Non smoking section has a tinge of new age. There is Koshys Chill out which is for people young at heart.
Damn good menu and food is awesome . Dont miss the Fish currey & rice, Kheema egg currey, Panner kulcha, Murg massalam, Briyanni, French Toast when you decide to eat here... Appam and stew is a signature dish.
