I had taken a policy with Kotak Life Insurance and surrendered it last year. Some days back I got call from some person saying that he’s talking from Kotak life insurance and the policy which I had surrendered had some benefits pending and I need to pay amount of 25000 to withdraw the amount. I understood that it was a fake call and tried to confront the person and he hung up. When I contacted Kotak help desk they confirmed that there was no such call made by their company.
When I asked them that how this any "random" person had so much details about my policy they are rubbing matter off their shoulder saying that the data must be shared by telecom company. Now can Kotak please explain me that how telecom company will know that which life insurance policy I had purchased, when did I surrender it and how much amount did I receive at the final settlement.
This clearly means that my data has been shared by Kotak itself. This is totally against RBI rules wherein a company cannot share customers confidential data even if they’ve surrendered the policy. I will never trust this kind of companies. I got this kinda call almost 2 times more after that incident and informed same to Kotak help desk and grievance cell but my complaint fell on deaf ears.
