When it comes to customer service, banking with kotak is as grave as hell. I had opened an account with them lately. I requested the executives from the bank to open the account at their branch in Koramangala, Bangalore. At their convenience, they opened it at a branch (close to) MG road and I was kept in dark about this development. I called this guy to check the status - he neither picked the phone no did he returned the call - SMS went unanswered too.
I escalated this issue after a week for which I got a response after 20 days. As per their verbal assurance and advertised literature, you can get your account up and running in 8-10 working days. For me the entire process (applying to sanctioning of account), took 35 days before getting net-banking and PIN numbers. I have written umpteen mails to service officers for which I hardly get "apt" responses. I wanted to check the status about the PIN nos (which they claim they had sent), they told me the consignment was delivered from their end through velocity express (their logistics partners).
The CS-officer I spoke with had no information about their partners for delivery except their website address. She neither had the courtesy to at least tell me that they can check and get back - instead she told me to check the whereabouts of the consignment with the courier guys. I am really shocked to understand that they are least bothered even after realizing the missing documents are confidential and important (internet banking / TPIN codes). They were more than busy to wind up the call with the canned statement "is there anything else I can assist you with". I now regret for signing up with Kotak.
