I had applied for a Kotak credit card from the Prabhadevi Branch of Kotak bank, Mumbai about 1.5 months ago.
a) I had submitted the original form to Mr Prem in the 1st week of June. Subsequently in the 2nd week I had went back to the bank only to be told that the salary statements for the last 3 months were required. I handed in the same. This clearly shows that the bank employees have no idea of what documentation is required for issuing a credit card. In fact the same was told to me in so many words by Mr Prem.
b) A few days later I got a call from the helpline and the lady mentioned that she had received the salary statement for March only. On checking with Mr Prem it was found that he had sent across the statement for Mar-May and he himself was surprised that they had received only 1 statement.
c) The very afternoon of meeting him he asked me for my Company Id card. Now I find this completely illogical. If Kotak wants an updated statement of May 08 then how does an ID Card issued in Dec 2003 help in anyway ? You would also be aware of the fact that Companies do not take back ID Cards even if employees retire. This is a prime example of a rule that makes no sense at all.
d) Post supplying that I was now called on the 14th of July 2008 by the helpline to verify my details. The lady who took the call hardly understands English and it did take repetition of every detail before she got it. Funnily she thought that a "Group Brand Manager" could possibly be a "Group Grand Manager" She was calling during office hours and it was quite irritating and disturbing to the rest of my colleagues to keep repeating myself for every detail being verified.
I would like these issues to be addressed at the earliest.
