Im a Senior Analyst Programmer working with a top-notch MNC Mutual Fund house. Started using Kotak almost 6 months back. Before that I used ICICI Direct for one year, but got so much skrewed up that closed it.Though I havent done much trading yet(much due to restrictions imposed on us from our company), I enjoyed the kind of interface and facilities they have.Benefits -1. Nominal cost - just Rs. 30 per month. So turns out Rs. 1 per day.2. Competitive brokerage - 0.3 for Delivery based, and, 0.05 for Intra-day.3. Decent online interface, easy to learn - esp for novices.4. An innovative tool called FASTLANE. This is a very light JAVA based window that gets downloaded to ur system(takes around 2-3 mins). It contains Nifty-50 index by default. And then u can create ur own stock lists. This window keeps self-updating in every 5 minutes with latest stock prices. Plus u can update it anytime urself as well. Good for trading during office hrs.5. U r assigned an RM. So if u dont know online trading, just call him/her and trade. No limit for on-phone transations per month.6. Toll-free customer care for online trading and other stuff.7. Invest in any Mutual Fund of any AMC. Support Subscription, Redemtion, Switch, SIP/SWP/STP.8. Apart from shares, u can trade in Futures/Options, and, Commodities(though this comes at extra chrgs).Drawbacks - Cant invest in bonds and post-office certificates.Actually these are the facilities that ive got with my a/c. Mine is KOTAK GATEWAY Account. I paid Rs.500 as lifetime charge. So if u go for a higher a/c, chances are ull easily get more benefits. Kotaks philosophy is that the more trading u do, the lesser brokerage u pay. So u brokerage may reduce down to 0.10 as well.Good Work Kotak Securities.Keep it up.
