Margin trading varies with the package that you sign up with
for my KotakStreet account, I get 6 times margin. So, this might not be much.
this URL: https://kotakstreet.com/mainindex.html has a list of all packages offered by them along with margin requirements, brokerage charges etc. Look at the right side menu under the ’’Our Products’’ category.
the sign-up process is pretty good - a representative will come to your house and demo the software. Once you sign up, another representative will give you a complete walk- through the software. Of course, it helps if you are familiar with Dalal Street terminologies!

While I am not a very active trader, my experience wit KotakStreet has been mixed.
For starters, they deducted my initial Set up fee twice. However, the extra amount was returned within 24 hours - of course, the fact that I bank with Kotak Mahindra Bank helped me to speed things up.
One other time, I transferred some funds from my Kotak bank account to my KotakStreet account. The money was transferred after four days - this caused me to miss the Jet Airways IPO. So, that wasn’t a pleasant experience.
The bottom line is that they have a long way to go as far as actual delivery of services are concerned - they have a brilliant marketing set up, the website is quite good, the research is decent (I am not the best judge for that though) but the actual thing - the trading does leave a little to be desired.
May time for them to pull up their socks :)
