A scenic locale, delectable cuisine, warm localites and clear beaches are very few words to sum up the Krabi experience. Infact the beauty of the trip begins at the airport itself when greeted by very hospitable Thais. Krabi has 3-4 beaches of which Ao-Nang and Railay deserve special mention. As one drives down from the airport to their hotel, the neverending coastline and clear green blue waters soothe the senses. It is usually recommended to take accomodation near the beaches else to travel from the hotel to the beach one would have to hire a "tuk tuk" motor rickshaw which usually costs 20TB per person. In Ao-Nang one would find lots of restraunts, shacks, cafes, pubs depending on what you are looking for. The general stores too are abundant incase of shopping for utilities. One aspect that goes to prove how tourist friendly the place is - presence of money exchangers, phone booths and travel agencies at every nook n corner. Nick knacks to shop for are in plenty and one must always bargain a little to avoid the premium on being a non-thai!!
Activities that are must do
Water sports in Krabi are simply irresistible when u have one look at the clear sparkling water. The fish n fauna n reefs are a breathtaking view when snorkelling. Also the canoeing tour takes you into caves and the experience is one of a kind. Though sun-protection is a must, it is best to carry summery shorts n tees n beachwear only.
The best time to travel to Krabi is Nov to Feb. Ideally a trip should be 4-5 days and is recommended for friends/couples/families alike.
And dont forget to say "Sawadee kaa" to the eversmiling Thais!!
